I am considering the ipaq 2215 to replace my Ipaq 3650. My 3650 īs digitizer just died on me. :(

But first I have acouple of question about the new ipaq, mostly about its bluetooth capabilities.

1) How far can you go and still remain connected to you desktop using bluetooth?

2) Can you access desktop files from the ipaq using Bluetooth (just like WIFI)?

3) Whats the impact on the batteries from using BT?

4) Is it easy to sync over BT?

Well thatīs it for today. I have a wifi setup at home but wifi drains up too much from the battery. I am considering BT as an alternative.

thanks

Hello,

I recently purchased a 2215 and a Belkin 300meter Bluetooth USB transmitter. It works awsome! I can go anywhere in our 2000 sq ft home or outside on the deck and be connected. And yes you can transfer files and access your desktop's internet connection... I love kicking back in my chair in the family room surfing the net from my 2215 :D

300 meter!! wow. Wheres that? I only see 100 meter from belkin's website. (BTW, are transfer rates w/ 801.11b faster than with Bluetooth. For some reason I am thinking that Bluetooth has a cap at 1Mbps, vs 11Mbps with 802.11b. Is this true?) Which is ideal for what?

I also have the Belkin USB Bluetooth adapter and it works great. I can go anywhere inside or outside and be connected.

From what I have read, I think BT has a maximum bandwidth of 768Kbps.

My biggest complaint is that I can't seem to get the BT file transfer service to work at that bandwidth. It is VERY slow...much slower than the BT Activesync service.
