I currently own an ipaq 5450 and while I love the unit, I have long been planning to upgrade to the ipaq 5550 but I have recently been able to use the ipaq 2215 and i am quite fond of the size and weight of the unit. It seems like the perfect size. I do however also like the size of the screen on the 5450 series and the integrated wireless options. I also am very very fond of the fingerprint reader. My primary concern is the screen responsiveness. When i pick up a 39xx ipaq the screen snaps to my screen taps instantly. This is quite the opposite on the 54xx. I often experience slow response time even after a fresh restart and minimal intalled files. I was hoping someone who has used the 5550 and the 5450 could comment on the snappyness of the unit.. also comparing it to the 2215 in speed overal. Im not concerned with benchmark scores, I want real life scores from real people. Thanks, any suggestions would be appreciated

From my previous PDAs its lightening fast! The folder seem to open instantanously. Notes and Transcriber show the current input very quickly - couldn't determine a lag. It seems faster than old Casios but can't compare to the 3xxx series. But no complaints..

My only complaint about the 5550 is the screen. It feels spongy and not as responsive as my brothers 2210 (which the screen is very nice on). But otherwise, I really love my 5550.

i've compared a lot of pocket pc's in this category and have to agree that the 5400/5500 have much spongier screens that do not react as quickly to screen taps as do the 3900 series, my 3650, the 2215, or the tosh e755. its the only thing holding me back from the 5500.

I noticed this same problem with my Dell Axim. After hearing the complaints for Ipaq owners, I assumed it was the OS and not the hardward...

In the end - I hate the response/lag time. It is annoying. In fact, there are times the screen taps don't even get a response. Very frustrating!

I've noticed a lag on my 2215...but mostly just after a soft reset. I've also seen the same with the Axims.

i compared my 5450 to the 2215 and the response time is sobering... something i dont think a 2003 upgrade will fix

i really urks me that the screen response is so slow on their former flagship model... and from what i am hearing the replacement as well. I love the high end unit but i got a chance to compare it to a 3900 and a 3700 series as well and they are all very very snappy. I think i may go with a 2215 if this isnt fixable..... any ideas?

I own both an H3970 and an H5555. Screen responsiveness is much better on the 3970. My 5555 is responsive, but after using the 3970, it is very difficult to get used to the 5555...
Don't get me wrong; I love my 5555. It is very fast, offers BT, WiFi, 128MB RAM and it has a very good screen.

My screen seemed sluggish but then I put a WriteShield on it and it seems over-sensitive now.
