<a href="http://www.microsoft.com/money/default.asp">http://www.microsoft.com/money/default.asp</a><br /><br />Today is the official launch date for Microsoft Money 2004. It is a bit early this year too. Normally it is an August or even September launch.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/hansberry/2003/20030722-money2004.gif" /><br /><br />You can download the trial version of Microsoft Money 2004 for your desktop from <a href="http://www.microsoft.com/money/info/trial/"> (all 18MB of it 8O) and the Microsoft Money 2004 for Pocket PC client here</a>. The Pocket PC requires ActiveSync 3.5 or later and Pocket PC 2002. I am pretty sure that Pocket PC 2003 is supported as well, but I am awaiting confirmation from someone that has installed it.<br /><br /><b>Update</b>: The readme file that accompanies the products specifically states that Pocket PC 2003 is supported, so the download page just needs to be fixed.

well from the readme file..

1: System Requirements

On Pocket PC:
· Pocket PC 2002 or Pocket PC 2003
· 500K available program memory on Pocket PC

so i guess that suggests it does work. just installed it too.

WHY 2004!!?? 8O

Office 2003 has not even been released yet! Although, I do have a nice bag from microsoft for free that has the Office '03 logo on it.

And I guess for those of us who still find our needs met with ppc2000, even microsoft isn't interested anymore

I know, just use the older money for ppc. Just letting out my frustrations with the progress or sometimes the lack of progress with handhelds. I guess this is a 'cool' release, no other comments.

I'm just happy to see it's compatible with PPC 2003! :D Now I can upgrade.

2002(03? forget which one I have) is compatible with PPC2003. You just have to go through a somewhat convoluted installation process.

Does the new Pocket PC version work with Money 2003? Maybe I've missed that before. I hate to buy a new version of Money just so I can enter things on my pocket pc.

Would like to see a list of new features / benefits that have been added. Sure would be nice if it would compete with Pocket Quicken on a feature by feature basis.

Why does MS release Money when they do? Am I missing something? Who wants to switch to a new app in the middle of the calendar year? I know that many businesses follow fiscal years, but this is aimed more at consumers, isn't it? They should release it in December or January.

I think they released it early this year in order to try to compete more with Intuit.

Second reason which comes to my mind is that during July/August/September period sales of back to school/college pc's and laptops increase and most probably they come bundled with either Microsoft Worksuite (which includes a standard version of Money) or else the Wordperfect/Quicken bundle - so they increase their marketshare.

That is it exactly. For the last 6-7 years, MS has released Money about 30 days before QUicken.

Also, if a comapny is going to switch over to new accounting software, why on earth would they do that just when it's critical to have it running smoothly? Releasing it 6 months early allows reviews to get out, and allows consumers a chance to try it before tax season kicks into high gear.

Check here (http://discussion.brighthand.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=83263) for details.

Brighthand has been really slammed lately so you might need to try a few times if the URL doesn't work right away.

Guys, this is Microsoft Money, not SAP or Great Plains. The only company using this is a small small one man show. You get bigger than that and you move to somethign that can handle a bit of payroll with tax table updates, etc.

How To Install Money 2003 for Pocket PC on Pocket PC 2003 (Windows Mobile)

I posted this a while ago. It works just fine on my 2215. You save your hard earned cash if you only need the PPC2003 compatibility:

Doesn't Microsoft OWN Great Plains?

No sweat, Ed, I'm simply a little bored...

I want to know this too, I would be tempted to upgrade money on my axim (ppc2002) if it will work with Money 03 on the desktop.

Aside from an ocassional AS choke, this is my only remaining gripe with the pocket money... bummer.

Unless I've overlooked something, and I don't think I have, this is the US release only. The UK release isn't there - the UK web pages still refer to the 2003 version.

What I'd really like to see is Microsoft encouraging more UK banking institutions to support interoperability with Money. There aren't many and it is very frustrating not being able to get the most out of the software.

Looks like "Money 2004 for PocketPC" definitely requires Money 2004 on the desktop to work properly. When I tried to install, I got an error message that I didn't have Money installed on my computer! 8O I knew that was because of the version, but I still had to open my Money 2003 desktop app just to make sure it was still there!

Alas, it looks like we'll be stuck with a hacked version of Money on the Pocket PC 2003 until we shell out the $$$ for a new version of Money for the desktop.

TOTALLY agree - the more banks the merrier. I'm just waiting for Money Small Business edition to be released as a 2004 edition. The current latest is 2002.

It would be nice for the Woolwhich bank to support a version of Money later than 2002 as well.

I love British placenames. They all sound so Harry Potter-ish.

:? Umm, what can I say to that?

I have Money 2001 small business edition and am waiting for 2004 business edition. I held off upgrading to 2002 small business because nothing was new - then they did not produce 2003 in small business edition. I really hope they get their act together with 2004.

It's REALLY useful to have you bank support Money - though I only let ZoneAlarm let Money onto the internet each time when I specifically request it. It’s too dangerous to let Money have permanent access to the net.

Question about the free online bill pay service. I'm currently using, and paying for, MSN's Bill Pay service. Anyone know how the free 2 year subscription included in Money 2004 work? Will I be able to utilize this offer, or would I be exempt since I'm an existing MSN Bill Pay customer? THe reason I ask is that it is very easy for me to cost justify purchasing the new Money '04 if I can then get rid of my $5 / month charge for my Bil Pay service.
