Hi Everybody,

I am a Loox user (Asian Traditional Chinese version). I have used Loox for 4 month and find that the SD card is extremely slow!!! So I use Pocketkai 's "card speed test" http://www.pocketkai.de/en/ce039.htm to test the speed of the SD card and compare to my old iPAQ 3870. Here is the testing result of SD card for my old iPAQ3870:

Write: 37sec. 249KB/Sec
Read: 71sec. 130KB/Sec
Delete: 45sec. 205KB/Sec
Create: 44sec. 209KB/Sec

But the testing result of SD card in my Pocket Loox are:
Write: 46.2sec. 20KB/Sec
Read: 63sec. 146KB/Sec
Delete: 478sec. 19KB/Sec
Create: 489sec. 19KB/Sec

As you can see, except the "Read" test, all other test of my Loox is slower than my iPAQ 3870. Why my Loox's SD card is slower than my old iPAQ's SD card? Is it a norm to many Loox user? Is it a norm to other European and American Loox user? Is it the problem in Asian version Loox only? How to solve this problem?

are you using the same card in both or different cards?

Yes. I am using the same Toshiba 128 MB SD card.

The Loox has a standard SD slot (1-bit, memory only). The iPAQ 3870 has an SDIO slot (4-bit, memory and add-ons). Thus the difference in speed - which, as you've seen, is not a problem for standard read/write but makes other operations slow.

Hi Duncan,

According to Pocket PC Magazine, the SD-slot in 3870 is not a SDIO slot.

Only the 3900 series have a SDIO slot. So is there any other possible reason for this problem?

Hmmm... not sure then.

The 3800 series had a 2-bit SD slot (although not SDIO which is 4-bit). Most other PPCs have 1-bit SD slots.
