Just got my iPAQ 2210. I was going to wait and get the 5550 but I just could'nt justify the price.
Well first impressions after killing it (NEVER RUN EASY TWEAK :? ) within 5 minutes of getting it switched on and having to do a hard reset are, it's great wonderful even. :D
Comparing it with my 3850 it's just so small and bright and light. The 3850 has the expansion pack plus extra battery and is pretty heavy. So it's a boon to me that I can still use my CF cards without the extra weight. I'm not missing the extra battery yet but i'm sure it's only a matter of time. The screen is fantastic compared to the 3850. By the way I was looking at he iPAQ 1940 just out of intrests sake, and as commented on before there is a definate yellow tint on the screen.
Got it hooked up via bluetooth to my Nokia 7650 and it works fine. Next on the list is to get my CF Buffalo WIFI setup on it (hope it works).
The only thing that is quite annoying is that there is no record button it was hand to use for switching off and on the screen in media player (as Jason said in his review) but that can be mapped to another button. No more light sensor (I thought sucked pretty much anyway) and I have a real dislike for the case it came in.
I like the idea as well that HP let you choose the software you install from their site with points they give you it would be nice for a bit more choice though and some newer titles.
Oh yeah the reason I ran Easy Tweak was that it was already on an SD card and I remembered a tweak that enabled the Contrast button (that did'nt work on the 3850) and well I wondered and thought, i'll give that a try and see if it works. duh!

Hi Wocket!
How's the Buffalo WiFi card going? I have a Buffalo WLI-CF-S11G card... is that the one you have?
My 2210 is on order, and I've got my fingers crossed that the Buffalo card is compatible with it and Windows Mobile 2003 otherwise it looks like the WiFi card will be going on eBay! :(

Bad new i'm afraid as far as the Buffalo card goes. The 2220 does'nt recognise it at all.
I've tried a few other drivers but no success. Left a message with Buffalo tech support and i'll see what happens.

I was afraid you were going to say that wocket! Let me know if you have any luck with Buffalo tech support.
I've tried searching for Melco drivers as well (it appears that Buffalo simply rebadge or repackage a Melco made device). Unfortunately the page(s) I think have drivers or something of importance on them are Japanese, and my Japanese reading skills aren't that good! :|

Just got a reply back from Buffalo Tech Support (Ireland). And it said:-
"Unfortunately, your WLI-CF-S11G is not compatible with the version of
operating system you are using and we do not have drivers for PocketPC
2003. A new card will be launched shortly will have the support. The
new part is WLI2-CF-S11"
I think it maybe a case of no we are not writing new drivers for it now run along and buy one of our nice new cards.

i have interest on Ipaq 2210 (or 2210 / 2215 same thing anyway) and have some question to ask.
1. is it true that it has 2 slot. one for MMC/SD and other for CF?
2. is the bluetooth compatible with Nokia series 60 and SonyErricson's BT?
3. i know the battery is replaceable but by removing the battery won't loose our data, rite?
4. any throuble with it's Wi-Fi connection??

Hi HI-res
The answers to your questions I hope
>1. is it true that it has 2 slot. one for MMC/SD and other for CF?
Yep both slots are at the top and the CF slot takes type I and II cards
>2. is the bluetooth compatible with Nokia series 60 and SonyErricson's BT?
Should be, I use it with a Nokia 7650
>3. i know the battery is replaceable but by removing the battery won't loose our data, rite?
Correct well not straight away you will have pleanty of time to stick a new battery in, also the iPaq has a Li-ion backup battery and thing called filestore to which you can back up important data and have applications installed, it's about 3mb in size and is non-volatile which means even if you loose power your files will remain intact.
>4. any throuble with it's Wi-Fi connection??
As you can see form this thread I have been having trouble with my old wi-fi card. But a lot of people are having success with different and newer cards. I'll just have to get a new card I guess. Have a look at the wirless forums.
Have a look at Jasons review of the iPAQ 2210 as well.

I actually did an (accidential ;) ) test of how long you can keep the battery out before it loses power. It only lasts a few minutes with the battery out before dying, because the "backup battery" is just part of the main battery that's reserved for keeping the iPaq alive. That's why you can adjust the amount of power stored in the backup battery under Power Settings.
So a word to the wise: Don't leave your battery out for more than a minute or two, and always use a backup program (two lessons I learned the hard way). :)

I've finally had success in getting the Buffalo WLI-CF-S11G to work with WM2003! (Embarrasingly, I've just had to cancel bids and the whole auction on eBay that I'd started for selling the card!)
Download AmbiCom's driver (the Windows Mobile 2003 one that has native support) from here:
http://www.ambicom.com/support/driverdownload/ddwl1100x-CF.htm
http://www.ambicom.com/support/driverdownload/WL1100C-CF_CE_NET.zip
Install it on the Pocket PC. Insert the WiFi card. If you haven't already tried another driver, it will ask you for the driver name (as it cannot find a Buffalo specific one). Enter "CW98.dll" without the quotes.
The LAN card should now connect! If it doesn't, head for the Connection Settings applet... Advanced tab... Network Card button. If you have the WiFi card in, you should see a new Wireless tab. Setup your Network Name (SSID(?)) and set up your WEP settings. Once I did all this, the card eventually found and attached to my access point!!
BTW, if you have already tried drivers, then you may not be asked for the driver dll name. The only way I've found to get round this is to use a registry editor to search for "buffalo" and remove the driver setting in those keys. Of course, there is another way... a hard reset! :(
Good luck!

You rock Pumajet
Great news about that driver. You saved me and you and everyone else a bundle on new cards. I'll try it later. I may well have to tweak the reg as I have tried every other combination of driver on the planet.
Have a virtual pint on me

looking forward for the 1910 but 2210 arrived so... good bye 1910
I had a 1910 (loved it) but when I saw that the 2215 was just about the same size, only a bit bulkier because of the dual slot, I went for it.
I thought about the 194x series, but the better performance of the 2200 series (playing SNES at full speed!) and the dual slot were too much to resist (I needed the CF slot to use with my digital camera's CF cards)
After using it for 1 week, I'm in love :D It's one heck of a device and so fast. The screen is not as sharp in colour saturation as the 1910, but it's still one beautiful transreflective screen :)
