I think that 8O, , :jawdrop: , and :shocked!: get the whole "shocked/surprised/amazed" idea across, but a drooling emoticon would be great.
Like for the Axim X7...<drool>

Darn it! I just did one of these a few days ago, but I can't upload it from work. It's not so much drooling as a big pink tongue hanging out of a smiley's mouth. Sort of a wow/hubba hubba kind of thing, without the lasciviousness.

I'm thinking more along the lines of a homer-drool... like a smiley that does this (http://www.missionaryexchange.org/aaron/homerdrool.gif) with the tongue and stuff...
David Prahl
07-18-2003, 08:51 PM
Yeah! I think the homer-drool look is what we're looking for.
A blank, stoic look is also a must. All that is going through that smiley's little mind is "wow."
I agree, we need one drip going down the right side of the mouth. Two would look like it's dying or something!

That looks more like exhaustion to me. Think of a dog panting and you'll see what I mean.

Back ontopic: S. Snack's emoticon does not look like a manhood IMO. I'm sure one could tweak the colors (a bit redder?) to avoid such ambiguities.

And to make them, you need an animated GIF editor. :google: for that too. I've used many over the years (anyone remember GIF Construction Set?) -- the one I've played with lately is Adobe ImageReady, which is bundled with Photoshop. That is probably on the high-end -- it's sophisticated and a bit too complicated for my tastes.

I prefer to use Macromedia Fireworks (http://www.macromedia.com/software/fireworks/productinfo/product_overview/) for static images, and Macromedia Flash (http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/productinfo/product_overview/) for the animation. Awesome work! I love the one with the big arching eyebrows. Now, if you truly want to experiment, try having a little blue drop run down the tongue and out. Given the "new" darker tongue, it might just work. :D

Since Ed is the master of all things emoticon-ish, I have a request for him (although I'm not sure if this falls into his realm):
resize the popup emoticon window to say, 3 or 4 emoticons wide by however many rows tall. That way, people will only have to scroll in one direction to get to the emoticon they want (without maximizing the window) instead of the two directions in the current situation.
