I recently <a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=14729">posted</a> about another new chess game, Chesscapade, which I am playing like crazy now. After reading PPCZone.net's review, I will get myself a copy of Hexacto's Kasparov Chessmate too!<br /><br />"Hexacto has done a great job in creating their first chess program for the Pocket PC. The chess program provides solid gameplay that simply plays well. The boards are highly detailed, therefore, making the board look and feel realistic."

Did Kasparov OK this? Hmm.

my thoughts exactly. I don't think Harry will be happy about his name and picture being used left and right. Especially when there is talk about "Kasparov club" - this is outright trademark dilution. Unless Kasparov blessed the venture, that is.

Anyone looking for a strong chess program for the Pocket PC should look no further than Pocket Fritz 2... it's got the Fritz engine and, apparently, plays to about 2500 ELO strength.

One nice bonus is that you can link to the Chessbase database and search and download any of about 2.5million games...!

Firstly of course it is Garry Kasparov, not Harry.

Secondly it most definiatly is endorsed by Kasparov. A large company like Hexacto wouldn't be so stupid as to rip of a known lawyer powerhouse like Kasparov.

From the screenshots it's definitely got some nice graphics. I didn't see a download link though - from Hexacto's site or Handango. I suppose it's not available yet?

Indeed. Pocket Fritz is where it's at.

While we're discussing Pocket PC chess apps, how does Fritz compare to PocketGrandmaster concerning the engine strength and the feature set?

I haven't used Pocket Grandmaster, but I'm downloading the trial now. All I can say is that Pocket Fritz has pretty much all the features you could hope for, and is a very challenging opponent.

...Anyone look at the Pocket Grandmaster (http://www.pocketgrandmaster.com/english/index.html) site? Frames and ugly flash... blech. :p

Where did you find the download? I searched Hexacto and Handango without avail.

I would like to know where you downloaded from, also. I have been anxiously awaiting this program. I am going to use it to improve my playing so I can do better on Chesscapade. :D
