have you done a soft reset yet? Then after that a hard if it still doesn't work (BACKUP FIRST) Has this always happened or just started.

If it does it after a hard reset with no third party software loaded, you may have a bad device. I think it's time to make that dreaded call to HP...

This problem has been discussed extensively here and on other sites. It appears to be a problem with the 2003OS. This is one of 3 problems I have noticed on my device. 1. 10 second shutoff if device has not been used in a while(>1hr). 2.Alarms do not wake unit up. 3. Slow power-up with CF Cards in place. All these problems seem quite common in the 2215 and I have read about other 2003 machines with similar difficulties(ie. iPAQ 5550). I am hoping that microsoft will release an update soon.

Again, I don't believe that any program is causing you problem. Do a search here and on brighthand to see all the complaints. Here it was under a thread for HP 1940...

Hey, my 2215 is doing it as well now. I've only had it 3 days, and just noticed this behaviour as of late yesterday or early today.

another problem is that using the rocker's down-press in PIE jumps you ahead about 3 screensful while reading AvantGo sites, while the up-press moves you normally, up one screen.

Same crap here... I'd been trying to identify the offensive software, but as you said, it may be PPC2003 itself. I might add to my list of incompatible software...

turn down the accelaration then... Start, Settings, Buttons, Up/Down Controls and change the repeat rates..... you just have what's called lazy fingers :) They don't respond as fast.

hey, SHoTTa35, that works! Thanks for the tip. I had bumped up the repeat rate to about 2/3. Funny that the high repeat rate causes problems (no matter how quickly I press and release the down button, it still would jump ahead 3 screens) which the up button did not.

both buttons are working properly now.

Thanks for all your replies.... The other problem I'm having is that the contacts in AF 5.0 take between 15-20 seconds to load when AF is first initiated..... I cannot believe that the 2215 with AF 5 is that slow!!

Anyone else seeing this?

Well, at least now I know that it's not just me having this problem. I hope it is only a software issue and not a hardware, I really hate dealing with tech support people :? It seems like this is a well known and widespread problem, does anybody know if microsoft has posted any info on it?

Well, good news, I got some advice somewhere else on this site (forget which thread) but I was told to do 3 quick soft resets right in a row, about 2 or 3 times a day for two or three days and that should take care of the problem. I dont' know why, but it did!!! My PPC hasn't shutdown on power on for about 3 days now. I dont know why this treatment works, but I'm glad it did.

BTW, I have a program called "Reset" on my PPC, it puts a little reset button on the bottom of the screen, makes rapid (or discrete) resets a lot eaiser.

Just make sure you grab a copy of CheckNotifications, (http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/ppc_cn_overview.html) with that many resets, your notification database is probobly huge!

Well, I just installed it and ran the program, You were right, it was quite large :) problem solved now though.
