Hi! I am a proud new owner of a Nokia 8390 that gives me the great opportunity to beam contacts from my h1910 to my phone. Yeah, I WISH!

I read a few threads about beaming problems with the h1910. Any solution to the problems? Could it be the phone? The pocket pc? The h1910 seems to recognize the phone without any problems, but then it keeps sending and sending and sending... without any results.

Anyone having a similar problem?
Thanks for input!

Karin

I have a 2215 and a Siemens S56 and Biz Beam installed on the 2215. I use it to beam contact info to the Siemens without any problems.

Wouldn't you need software for the PPC to translate the info to the Nokia in a form it would understand?

In the instructions it doesn't seem like it. It says that the phone will be able to communicate with a pocket pc or palm handheld, in the form of v.cards and v.calendar. I think that's the business card format the pocket pc uses.

But even IF the phone would not understand that message the pocket pc sends, why would it not even display some gibberish, instead of plain NOTHING. The thing that bugs me is that the pocket pc signals that it established a connection to my phone (indicating the exact type and model number of the phone), but the phone never receives anything, not even an error.

Now I don't know if this is a problem of the h1910 (as I said, I read some threads where people were complaining about the inability of their h1910 to beam cards), or of the phone - so I don't know if I want to invest in an IrDa port for my laptop...

 Aaaaah. Technology. Don't you love it?

I finally found a program that allows me to beam between my Nokia 8390 and my h1910. mbeam (found at Handango).

So it was not a hardware issue, but a software problem. I am a little miffed why I now have to spend $ 9.95 for a program that does something my pocket pc should be able to do by default... but at least now it works.
