I am getting ready to go on a trip, and I was wondering if there are any good wifi sniffers for PPC 2000. I have a WCF11, and I want to be able to search for wireless hotspots while in the airport and various other public places.

Is there a way I can configure my PPC to connect to ANY available wireless network, or do I need to punch in the network for it to work?

At the (admittedly pretty high) risk of being corrected  I am pretty sure that the real issue is not which version of PPC you are running but which Wifi card. Mini stumbler is great but only works with a limited number of cards.

You can try the one at www.boingo.com.

Well, I found some software called Pocket Warrior which works with my card, buy I can't get the software to do anything. It loads on my PPC, but doesn't detect my network.

I have been using Pocket Warrior on my Jornada 568 with a Z-com card and the Intersil reference drivers and have found it very easy to use. The one thing that it took a bit of trial and error to work out was how to start it sniffing.

When you start the programme up you will see a green circle in the bottom tool bar you need to tap on this to change it to a red square which seems to mean that the software is in sniffing mode.

Yeah, I pushed the green button. They said they supported SH3 procs, which is actually the version I downloaded, but I can't get it to work. Hmmm.

It has been a while but I thought I used either Boingo or PocketWarrior a while back when I had my old Ipaq on PPC2000. I remember it worked great.
