Pocket PC Thoughts has been given an exclusive first look at some screen shots of the soon-to-be-released WorldMate 2003 from MobiMate. This is a great little application for anybody who travels a lot. We haven't been able to try out the new version yet, but from looking at the screen shots, I see at least one major enhancement from the earlier version<!>

Like the 2003 incarnation, this updated form provides visualization of daylight and nighttime hours throughout the world.

It also allows you to track times across multiple time zones.

And, if you look at the tabs across the bottom of the screen, you can see that this WorldMate also includes currency conversion, other measures conversion and clothing size tracking and conversion. But, there also seems to be a new tab for building personalized packing lists.

So, judging from these screen shots, the new WorldMate sure seems to have the features that travelers need. Rest assured, once we get our hands on the final product, we'll do a very thorough analysis and comparison to the other similar travel-related applications that are out there.

Don't forget to bring you "fashion statement". :) I think for you, that would be the eVest, no? ;)

This I am looking forward to. I use Worldmate a lot. The new packing list tab looks like a great addition. I'm suprised it's just being added, it's such a logical component (not meant as criticism, just one of those things...).

ooh... I've always prefered CityTime ...but this is nice.

I knew I had seen that packing list somewhere: it's in my version of World Mate for the Palm (version 9.1). I was waiting for this to be added to World Mate one of my favorite Pocket PC applications, esp. if you're the connected type of person. You gotta love the ability to refresh currency exchange rates over any internet connection, and the ability to see up-to-date weather forecasts, next to all the other goodies.

Awe shame. I was really hoping for the itinerary component that's in Worldmate Pro for the Palm. Also the much longer list of cities.

Oh well, in one way I'm glad - I only bought Trip Tracker the other day, so I'd have been a bit peaved to find I didn't need to!

I'm a long time user of both citytime and worldmate. The one thing worldmate is missing, is the ability to add cities to the database AND be able to get weather forecast from those cities. You can add the city but what's the point if I can't get weather forecast to go with it? Cool, I can see where it is on the map, but big f***ing deal, I already knew where it was, I want weather. I have emailed mobimate about this many times, and have yet to get one response.

Yes, I know there are other weather apps out there but it would be really nice if they could update the app to allow us to use it as it was intended.

I also like WorldMate a lot. Of course, there's the world time features, but also the weather forecasts, the unit converter - and the currency converter is very nice! Clean interface, easy to use and it auto updates!

It just annoys me the weather icons always shows that sun-behind-the-cloud thing. Wish it displayed an icon reflecting the actual weather for that city on the world time page, and the global page. That would be really useful for an at the glance update on todays weather.

We have this ability in WorldMate Pro for Palm, and I hope we will see WorldMate Pro on Pocket PC in the near future.
