The difference between any PPC ending with a 0 or 5 is the supply chain they go through.

Not sure which is which, but one of them is sold through OEM's or direct from HP and the other one is sold through retailers.

Otherwise they are the same device:
1940=1945 and 2210=2215 no difference 8) .

Yup..

The 0's are direct from HP, 5's are retail.

I also believe they come in different boxes, while being the same product.

The 1940 comes in a similar box to the 1945, but the 1940 seems to have images of "business men/women" on the box.

The 2210 comes in a brown box (or so it has been reported), while the 2215 is what you would see at your local Best Buy or other electronics store.

However, aside from this, the actual products 1940/45 and 2210/15 are identical.

people,

the real difference between these two models is that the 0 ones are for sale in the americas and canada, and the 5 ones for sale in europe and africa.

This is incorrect.

the 0's are for sale in brick and mortar stores. The 5's are available via online stores. If an online store also has a brick and mortar point of purchase (or vice-versa) then that retailer may offer both 0's and 5's. The products are identical. (2210 = 2215 and 1940 = 1945)

That's all... Compaq/ HP want to track which POP's are selling more of the product. The boxes may have variation in them simply because the product itself (the 1940/45, for example) may come in more than one style box. I've seen this happen many times...

I hope this clears up the confusion.

Kind Regards,

Christopher Spera

Where are you getting that from? Every US retailer I've seen is selling the 2215 (including amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00009RL1X/retailcomplia-20/103-9566567-4025443)). Unless CompUSA suddenly became a European company, you must be mistaken (they're selling the 2215 (http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=303835&pfp=SEARCH)) :).

The 2210 comes from hp's website, and as ppcnewbie said, the 2210 comes in a plain box, not the pretty retail box of the 2215 (hey, if you never see the box in the store, why bother?).

Wrong.
In Australia the only 22xx you can buy is the 2210 whether you buy direct through HP or throught the retail stores.

So I guess the 2215s are for retail in North America and the 2210 is for online from HP and for the rest of the world. So we were all a little wrong and a little right.

Anyways, doesn't really matter; it's all the same unit. It doesn't even have the model number anywhere on the unit itself that i can see anyways.
