Has anyone been able to get the free eBooks offered on the Microsoft Reader site to work on the pocket PC?

Many people have. Many other people have had problems. There have been several threads here about it in the last week. Read through them for possible solutions.

Probably have to update Reader, and then re-activate. The free books that I downloaded were secure .LITs.

FWIW, I understand that Convert LIT 1.4 will remove the DRM5 wrapper from the new format .LIT files. But -- ahem -- use of this tool is technically illegal in the US. ;)

I just exchanged a few emails with Microsoft tech support and as it turns out, Reader on the Pocket PC 2003 devices does need to be updated. Once I actually updated it, all of my ebooks work.
