Apparently it adds an "Optimized Wi-Fi Sites" link near the top of your Mobile Favorites in PIE. The link brings up a page with a list of links of sites that are optimized for mobile browsing.

A quick look in one of the files in the CAB file has this link in it:

Thanks Crystal, I'm now sitting here listening to Virgin Radio on my Axim.
It's nice having that collection of mobile sites to hand.
This is also the first time I've downloaded and installed a file over WiFi.

Looks like a pretty good list. I had most of these bookmarked already, but there are a few new ones.

Kudos to MS for making this available to Pocket PC users (as an aside, I'll probably also "borrow" some of these links for use on my T-Mobile Color Sidekick).

:)

Yeah, had d/l'ed this bookmark right when I got my PPC 2003. Nice links to save you time. Was able to demo WMP9 playing game/movie trailers over WiFi w/ no efforts.

P.S. Heh, accessing this mobile forum is pretty nice...

Now all i need is for some site this side of the world to "mobilize" and i will be right!

It so frustrating that none of the major news outlets in Aus have their heads stuck in the sand!

But, for Goodness sake, if this is a mobile list, why the CAB file download has to have such an awfull long URL http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/f/4/1f4a5a53-3973-4931-a02b-c9ab07a1864b/OptimizedWiFiSites.cab? Certainly they do not think people will try to download over the air

Come on, mobilise!

Excellent!

Here are some more 'formatted for PDA' portals I've found:

http://www.yubee.com/yubee/pocketpc_portals.php

Anyone care to expand the list? Or did I just give out information overload? :)

Yep, used OTA: downloaded to my laptop and sent as an e-mail to my pop account. From my Pocket PC I downloaded the e-mail over GPRS and installed the attached file.

 Shame the download URL is *&%^& a pain to enter on the PPC.

Hey! They even included a link to the mobile version of Penny Arcade (http://www.penny-arcade.com)! :D

I had it bookmarked before, but it's nice to see Tycho and Gabe get some recognition from MS.[/url]

And I'm a huge Penny Arcade fan. ;)

I'd been using this for a little bit. It's alright but I have my own portal I made. More personalized.

I concur. I've seen quite a few, actually.

If i load this up on my desktop and save it as a mobile favorite it will not transfer across to my PPC. Any ideas?

OK what's the low-down? Did one of you fine gentlemen create this list in the first place and submitted it to MS? Just curious, can't resist these "insider" back-n-forths :)
