Has anyone noticed that there new H2215 came with "rub" marks on their rubber grips? I am trying to decide if the slipper case that came with the handheld is causing this, or did it come out of the box like this. Just curious. I'm in need of a good case.

I've seen reports at Brighthand of the case scratching the side pads of the 2210 - I don't think it comes that way.

Now that you mention it, I just checked mine and there are rub marks! Wonder what that will due if you want to return it during the 15 day look see period Comp USA or other retailers offer?

I am going to keep my H2215 since I have one that has a wonderful screen, one without the visible grid lines. It's a bit trivial to return it for that reason alone.

Gtmtnbiker98, I am intrigued that your screen does not have the grid. Have you gone to a store like Fry's and held it next to another h2215 to see this difference? It seemed to me that the screen grid was a design issue and not quality.
I also wonder about the contrast ... can you compare it to another h2215 and h1910?

I can see the grids with the PPC off, but only if I hold it up to the light just right. I can also see it with the PPC on and backlight off. I never see it with the backlight on.
In other words, I'm never distracted by the gridlines.

I have compared the screen of my H2215 to other PDAs and I cannot see a grid. Althought the screen is not as clear and sharp as my Tungsten C's, I do not see any lines and this is with the backlight being adjusted to varying levels of intensity.

Yep, I have slight scratch lines down mine too. I'm pretty sure they were caused by the case, since I didn't see them when I first took the iPaq out of the box. They're not that bad, though.
Anyway, I'm waiting for EB, Proporta, Vaja, and everyone else to release cases for it, because I really don't like the slip case much. Actually, I really hope HP comes out with that flip cover, because that'd be wonderful...

I've noticed some minor marks on the lower part of my 2215's grips, so it's most likely the included case that's to blame.

I've never used such an awful case that you have to use a "shoe-horn" in order to get the handheld in the case. Anyway, I ceased using that case. I'm temporarily using a belt clip case designed for my Tungsten|C. The fit isn't perfect, but it works for the intended purpose.
Between the grips being marred, and the question regarding the USB port, I'm still pleased with this handheld. Has anyone else noticed the top of the USB port being crimped at the top corners? I'm frantic over this issue. Other member's reported that this is normal. I'm just seeking comfort, so I don't return the PDA for a non-issue.

When I first saw the h2215 I did not notice the lines. Then I was able to compare the h2215 to the h1910 side by side and then the h2215 grid was readily apparent. The contrast is also significantly inferior to the h1910 so when you hold the two side by side the h2215 looks washed out.
If you have already purchased the h2215 and if you do not notice the grid then I would not go out of my way to look for it! Be happy with your purchase, the h2215 is a great device.

I just exchanged my h2215 yesterday because of those marks on the side. That friggin' case is a POS. I know it's not a big deal, but when you spend $400 on a new toy, you don't want it to be scratched. Best Buy took it back without a complaint.
I bought a Zire leather slim case, the one that has the velcro attachment on the inside. As long as you position the velcro right above the battery door, this case is perfect for the 2215, except for the Palm logo right in front of it... Oh, well... We'll see how long it takes for somebody to come out with a decent case for it.

UPDATE: No, it's not perfect for the h2215. The stylus is hard to reach...

Grrrr.. thats terrible. Well, actually, I hadn't even noticed the scratch marks until reading this thread. Its the way this awful case is sewn together.
Please HP (or some 3rd party), hurry up with that flip top!

My I/O connector is crimped as well. I think it's designed that way.
Hey HP! This case is CRAP! Marked grips, scratched screens?! Why not include a brown paper bag and call it a "case"? A plastic flip cover like the 39xx series couldn't have cost anymore than the folded over seat belt you call a case! Jeez!!!
Seriously though, it is pretty damn frustrating that my week-old PDA has permenent blemishes on each side. :bad-words:

Are there slots for a flip cover as with the 56x devices?

There are two holes on the back of the 2210 that are for future accessories apparently - hopefully a nice slim flip cover will be one of them.
I really want a case for mine; I left the supplied case in the and await the first case (particulalrly Vaja) with anticipation.

Same here. Can't wait to see what the case will look like. :)
