Does anyone know if it's possible to setup a partnership with Astink 3.7? I only have one cradle and I'm tired of lugging it back and forth between my office and home as soon as Astink decides it no longer want to recognise my 5450 and only connects as guest.
Otherwise I get it to sync over wifi, even though getting the connection going is a 50% chance, sometimes it works other times it doesn't.
When it doesn't I can usually trick it to connect by opening connection settings uncheck all options, open again recheck all options, then when I try to conect it usually works.... kind of taking away the charm of using it wirelessly when you need to go over to the PC to get it going...
I whish M$ would do something SOON before I jump ship and get a Palm.

After you set up a partnership with the PC using the cradle, you can sync to the PC using a wireless connection...

It looks like he is already aware of that.
It may be time to get a USB sync cable (http://www.mobileplanet.com/private/pocketpcthoughts/product.asp?dept%5Fid=3703&pf%5Fid=MP600819&listing=1) for home.

The fact of the matter is you can establish a partnership, USB, Serial and IR, that's it. Check out the MiniSync cables. They are very nice and compact.

there's no network syncing function? I know Palms at least for years now let you sync by modem... don't tell my ASync doesn't have at least that basic kind of functionality. There must be SOME way of doing it, even if it's moderately convoluted. I mean, people have gotten it working with Bluetooth, right?

Yes you can use ActiveStink via Wi-Fi or even wired LAN with the appropriate card, but you still can't create a partnership that way. I think this is an incredibly stupid limitation.

Wouldn't be a big problem if Astink were more reliable and you only had to set ut the partnership once. Seems like a strange limitation since you can sync when partnered.
Thanks for the replies!

I guess I need to trash my D-Link DCF-650W or ORiNOCO Silver cards then and forget I have been ActiveSync'ing wirelessly for over two years...
Look at this PocketPC passion thread for help with wireless ActiveSync...

I also ActiveSync via a dialup link and a VPN tunnel from remote locations...

I was under the impression that this limitation was deliberate in order to prevent someone who'd got on to your network (wirelessly or otherwise) from accessing your potentially sensitive PIM information and I suppose your Windows account. A sync'd device doesn't require your Windows password to access your PC as the currently logged-on user.
Insisting on a phyical connection first gives you greater protection.

You can't set up a partnership over WIFI (which was the original question). However, once a partnership is established you can sync over WIFI to your hearts content...
