Well, this is my first post to this forum, and find that I'm very eager to learn this new platform. I have been a long time user of the Palm OS and couldn't resist the temptation to purchase the H2215. I hope that I don't regret the purchase. Any suggestions in learning this new OS, besides of course, using it?

First, take some time and go through the "Palm -> Pocket PC" forums. Next: Have fun! If you run into any problems, post here!!!

gtmtnbiker98,

Welcome to the world of Pocket PC's. I say you've already made a great step in visiting this site. Beyond using it, I say browse previous posts in these forums. You'll find people using their devices in inovative, creative ways which will help you understand the power of your device. You'll also find recommendations for other software you can purchase or download for free...there are lots of threads on "essential" software, and even recommendations for those coming to the Pocket PC world from Palm devices. So, start browsing and reading! There is a real wealth of knowledge here...I've learned a lot from Jason, Ed, Marlof, and other PPCT luminaries :werenotworthy: .

If you prefer a book, check out pt's PocketPCMagic (http://www.pocketpcmagic.com/) site for great ebooks for those just starting out. If you prefer a dead-tree book, consider How To Do Everything With Your Pocket PC (http://www.pocketpchow2.com/htde2.htm) by Frank McPherson. Though there will probably be a few changes since you are running Windows Mobile aka Pocket PC 2003, there is probably enough to keep you busy for a while!

Jason offer's a timely post this morning to help answer your question. As a followup to my post, How To Do Everything With Your iPAQ Pocket PC 2nd Edition (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=14366&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=) might be a great book to begin with.

I installed Pocket Mirror and Hotsynced my Palm to Outlook prior to synching the H2215. Both synch seamlessly to Outlook now. It's nice to be able to synch both a Palm Tungsten|C and the H2215 from the same Outlook desktop. Both keep the data intact. Now I truly have the best of both worlds.

Since I'm new to PPC, I had to compare the resolution between the two. The Palm kills in image quality when viewing pictures. I only wished that PPC would jump to 320X320 resolution. Anyway, I love both handhelds.

Some of you may wonder why I use two PDA's, in order to settle this question, I do a lot of consulting. My employer may someday jump to PPC, and if they do, I want to be prepared. Just a little trivia.

Just curious, you DO have to kill Activesync to run Hotsync don't you? It seems I tried running both in the past and they didn't play well.

No, I do not have to disable one for the other. They both play well together.
