For those of you keen for more info, the UK magazine PC Pro has a review of the ipaq 5550 and ppc 2003. They give it 4/6 stars and general thumbs up. Also they confirm the price that has been
mentioned here of £425 +vat (£499).
It is the August issue, and is on p75.

Ya beat me to it.

But if anyone's interested in reading it online www.pcpro.co.uk and just do a search for ipaq 5550. You can't link directly to the review unfortunatly (someone prove me wrong).

The price though is a bit suspicious that would make it cheaper than the 5450.

Try this (http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/reviews_story.php?id=43316). The search is very poor - took 14 attempts to find it!

Nooooooooooo!!!!
HP has also provided its own iPAQ WLAN software to complement the 'zero config' aspect of PPC 2003.
Here's hoping it's not the same load of crap that's on the 5450. :(

and I saw 5/6 (not 4/6). It looks pretty good - but the review was more or less an overview of features. when I (finally) get mine I will check it out how it performs myself.

ARGH! I was very disappointed to see that they didn't address what has become probably the #1 concern with 5400 series owners (or at least in the top 5), that is... have they fixed the speaker volume with the new 5500 series?

I'm sure that any reviewer that is familiar with the 5400 series iPAQs will cover this, but so far, none of THOSE reviews are out. This is a nagging question that I've yet to find an answer for. Does ANYONE know?

I though the 5550 was due out today. Has anyone seen one anywhere?

I was checking out the Brighthand/Cnet pda shopping site and it listed a store as having the 5550 in stock. I emailed that store (can't remember it's name) but got no response. Also, HP was listed as having them in stock. I phoned and they said that they didn't have any currently but that they had shipped some Friday. I don't put much faith in any of this info. but what the heck.

:D Well done though for finding it. I just did'nt have the time to look for it as i'm in work (thats my excuse an i'm stickin to it).

Anyhoo I was in Dixons (uk box shifter) yesterday and they still have the 5450 for £529.99 and the guy said they were not discounting it nor where there any new models due in. So much for being helpful. Funny then that the 5450 is £449.96 on the Dixons website.
