View Full Version : Subscriber Services Under Attack By Army of Rats

Fabrizio and I were working on the subscriber services, and they were ready to be launched today, when hordes of rats attacked my computer! Rats, so many rats, with sharp pointy teeth! :rawr: They shredded the floppy disk that was holding all my ASCII files and... 8O

Ok, that's not quite true. The fact is, there was more work than we thought, and I feel like an idiot for announcing they would be ready today when they aren't. Quite a life lesson, this project management! We're working hard on the services, and all I can say is that they'll be ready when they're ready. Thanks for your patience. In the meantime, the good news is that you all get more time with the mobile forums!

How 'bout giving us the pricing and feature details? Or do you want to have a grand unveiling.

Yeah lets hear prices... :D

Agreed, pricing info would be nice, but understand if you want to wait until its all ready. I, as many others here, have the Pay Pal account armed and ready.

why, mr. dunn you're sounding positively like a developer:
"Johnson! When will the Obfuscator 3000 be done?"
"When it's done, sir."

Jason thanks for some more free time!
Being the no. one PPC site there would be huge cost invloved with the site which we would and are totally ignorant about.
In simple terms if you find the cost to high for the mobile forums simply don't use them.
I can't see parting with a few dollars a month hurting the bank account to much in ordered to keep me abreast of the latest rants and raves whilst on the go! :)

Since i am not quite in the right state of mind (beer) I think you are ready for the Zen Computer 8O Rule numer 2 sais: It always takes longer than you think. :) So you are probably reading it as well....

Only one thing wrong with your rat theory Jason, this is Alberta and we don't have any rats here unless you count the ones we elect! :armed:

Keep postponing til the 3rd!
I'll be leaving for a bbq in Pincher tomorrow and won't be back (or near Internet access) until then. And I'd hate to not get every single nibble (half a byte) of pocket goodness I can.

In the mobile forums is there a way to subscribe for notifications on a thread without posting to it?

That's a bummer I was all pumped to buy a subscription after work so I loged on to do so. Oh well, it doesn't matter to me if I pay today or next week.

...Quite a life lesson, this project management!...
One of the cardinal rules of project management: Always say you'll deliver in twice the time you estimated. That way when it comes in on time, you're a hero. Watch Scotty from Star Trek:TOS as the best example.

Excuse me if I take this thread hostage  , but I want to complain a bit about the mobile forums ;)
In the normal forums you can skip to a next or other page by using this text/link : Goto page Previous 1, 2
In the mobile forums this link can only be found at the bottom of the page which is quite annoying, because I have to load the whole page just to go to another one, is it possible to add that link to the top of the page in the mobile forums ? Another question : is it in anyway possible with phpbb to give an option 'go to first unread message in this thread' or something like that ? I think these two things would be very handy for mobile users on a GPRS connection.
Thanks in advance,
Ivan

I think your concern is already being addressed in this thread (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=14172&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=74)

Yeah, I posted my complaint in that thread, 'William' made more clear what I was trying to say, but I didn't see any other response from Jason, so that's why I'm posting it here again :p

Actually, it's a factor of four. Watch the beginning of ST3:TSFS if you don't believe me.

Personally I'd like to see the links back to the forum and to the forum index at the bottom of the page as well as the top. If you're taking suggestions :)

If we replicate every navigation element at the top and the bottom as people are requesting, the mobile forums are going to get pretty bloated...

Does that mean your programmers are on crack, or are part of the plumbers union as well as programmers?

Yer all wrong.
Karen's 4th rule of SW project management: double the number and increment the unit of measure to get your public estimate:
PersonalEst - PublicEst
1 hour - 2 days
5 minutes - 5 hours
2 days - 4 weeks
1 weekend - 2 weeks
3 months - 6 quarters
see :morning: ?
