Hey guys, need some advice.

I'm looking at moving to a new host for my business site. My current provider charges $20 a month, but for my needs a simple $10 or less plan would be sufficient.

But I would also like to start my own blog site as well and I've seen some hosting plans for $5. I need domain hosting (obviously), and also domain email support, as well as access to CGI and PERL.

Is anyone currently subscribed to these cheap hosting plans? If so, what has your experience been like? What hosting firms can you recomment...there are lot of crooked companies in this business. :?:

Thanks

Check out http://www.got-hosting.com . I have used them in the past and have reccomended them before without hesitation. I think that they offer all that you need plus more for $4.50 per month if you pay for a year up front.

I can give you a hearty recommendation to Page Zone (http://www.page-zone.com/us/sales/n.ew/kensai) [Affiliate]. I've been with them for a couple of months now, and I'm really impressed with their services. They're 100% Cpanel based, which is excellent, because it's one of the most advanced control panels I've encountered. Their prices are very competitive, and I signed up for a reseller account, so now I can host up to 100 domains under the same account with no monthly fees. All of my other Web sites are hosted with them now other than the Thoughts Media sites (which live on the Rackshack box).

As you can see, I even signed up as an affiliate for them - I really like their service, and their tech support is great (even though I think it's only one guy).

What other Web sites do you have (besides Kensai.com)?

Just came up with a need for more hosting (starting to get hosed by current provider for overages). Remembered this thread and just signed up for the reseller package with Page Zone (I put you down as my referral Jason). I probably have 15 sites scattered around on various plans. This is cheaper, easier (since I can consolidate all my hosting plans) and gives me the ability to provide hosting for some of my web design clients (and possibly actually make a profit on the hosting.)

THANKS!!!

Looks like a great webhost but anybody knows of one which will support ASP + .ca domains as well at the same prices?

Re: ASP, I'm not sure. Re: .ca domains, any host will - to them it's just a DNS entry, nothing special.

Thanks Jason - figured the .ca domain but still looking for a good priced webhost with ASP - Page Zone do not support ASP and i have two domains which use ASP and one running cgi/php/myql which I am planning to move.

In terms of reseller hosting, I think Dathorn is hard to beat. I've been with them for several months and feature, speed, support, and price are all excellent. Check out Dathorn forum and Webhostingtalk.com forum to get some more feedback and recommendation. I also liked ecphosting, clookhost and httpme.
