Has any one experienced their battery meter getting "stuck" since installing the latest ROM update for the 5455 Ipaq?

It happened right after I installed the ROM, I thought it was Omega One Battery bar so I upgraded that to 5.0.5 and everything was peachy.

Now a couple weeks later I have had several days of constant problems with it. For example, last night while using WIFI I had the unit on for over an hour and the battery meter never moved. :|

I've also noticed that my unit is having trouble taking AC or USB power. I can plug it in and it will NOT begin charging. Sometimes it will after being plugged in for 10 - 15 min, sometimes it will start after a reset, sometimes it will start after popping the battery out. It seems to have spells. It will work fine for a week or so, then this charging issue will show up for a couple days, then disappear again.

Anyone else experience this kind of freakiness??? :frusty:

I've noticed the "will not charge when plugged into AC power until after you soft reset it" problem. Talk about freaky! How can something as low-level as recharging be tied into the software? 8O

I have had each of these problems, but not on a constant basis. The battery gauge issue happened once and I, too, thought it was caused by Battery Pack but I was using the latest version of the program, which I really don't like. I much prefer version 4.0.2.2 and after downgrading from 5.05 to 4.0.2.2, I have not had a problem.

As for the charging issue, that too happened only once, soon after I installed the ROM update. I think I tried a soft reset to fix the problem and when it didn't, I took out the battery for a couple of seconds and that seemed to do the trick. I haven't had that problem again since then.

piperpilot,

did you ever get your t68i working with your IPAQ to access the internet? As you probably know, there are numerous articles on this subject available, just do a Google search using IPAQ, t68i and it should come up.
On the ROM update, I have read about so many problems that I may not perform this update. Is it really worth it ? apparently there is a speed improvement, is that true?

I still haven't got it to work, but I have made progress. I need to fiddle around with the dialing properties. Right now, it keeps adding digits to the number that I want it to dial. Thanks for the google advice. I will try that this weekend.

As for the ROM update, I haven't noticed any increase in speed, although others have. I haven't noticed any improvements attributable to the ROM update and, in fact, my WLAN reception has decreased significantly following the ROM update. I understand, however, that that particular problem will be addressed by a firmware update.

Other than keeping the device up-to-date, I really don't see the advantage of doing the update, but again, that's just my experience. These wonderful pieces of technology seem to have their individual quirks and thus don't always respond the same to a given tweak.

And now that a few days have passed, I once again had to do the standby slider/soft reset trick to get it to charge...oh well :really mad:
