Come on guys, it's time to use a real browser. Either Mozilla (www.mozilla.com), or even Avant Browser (www.avantbrowser.com), which wraps around the IE control. Both block popups. I haven't seen this, and don't intend to. ;)

Opera 7 will also kill those suckers. I believe that the default setting only allows windows that are actually "requested" or clicked, while killing anything else. Pretty nice. Plus, the tabbed windows are cool. 8)

I haven't seen it since I switched to Mozilla Firebird (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firebird/) .. but when I still used Internet Exploder.. I did see it.

Funny this conversation happened to turn up - I just installed Avant Browser yesterday, just before this thread came up. I had heard about it here and started getting fed up with the pop-ups and I also needed tabbed browsing. Avant Browser works very well... and stops evil pop-ups as seen above.

More proof tht the Internet (AOL branded version, since 1994) has slowly become a cesspool. Welcome to the cheap seats.

So these will actually replace IE as the default?

You can configure it to do so. Technically, AvantBrowser is just a wrapper that works with your IE engine. So your're still using IE even if you're using AventBrowser, but with the extra very cool features.

Yep, I have Firebird too. It's really nice. I tried IE again recently, but without tabs and popup blocking, I couldn't go back! ;)

BTW, one feature I really like in Firebird is typeahead searching, so if you want to find a string of text, you can just start typing and it'll show you any occurances of it. It's actually very useful.

Speaking of web browsers, right now I'm using Pocket IE on the mobile forums- Jason, you might just make a subscriber of me yet... ;)

Correct, although Avant Browser is based off of IE.
