<a href="http://www.socketcom.com/support/ppc2003.asp">http://www.socketcom.com/support/ppc2003.asp</a><br /><br />Just a quick FYI - Socket Communications has released Pocket PC 2003 drivers for most of their products, including bluetooth and WiFi cards. These are for 2003 devices only. You should look at the normal product page for 2002 and earlier drivers.

Just got a message from Symbol (identical card to the socket) they have no timetable for driver release, but they are working on it....

So far I have tried the following 802.11b CF Cards/Drivers in my h2215

Belkin
NetGear
Ambicom

Has anyone got 802.11b working on thier 2003 device?

When I installed these drivers, The card came to life but I never received any configuration pop-up or anything and no wireless tab in my Connection Mangler. So I was unable to configure the card to work.

Yes, but I have a Socket card. :D

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you may run into problems down the road with so many drivers installed. Once your OEM comes out with their driver for 2003, you might have to hard reset to clean out all of that old stuff.

Thanks for the tip but I'm actually resetting between each driver install.

I'm creating a compatibility matrix for the hardware & software we use in house here.

if anyone is interested I cannot get the Spring CF2031 card working either.

I will test the Movian VPN client as soon as I can SOME KIND of wireless connection

I also have not been able to get the Socket software to work. Basically, the Link LED on the card just keeps flashing but it looks like the 2215 isn't recognizing the existence of the card.

Hey I got mine working, and unfortunately it required a Hard reset!

I think I screwed something up when I tried the original Drivers and the system never recovered even after an uninstall.

I hard reset and installed the 2003 drivers, and whala! it was all there Wireless tab and all.

If you tried the symbol/socket 2002 drivers, you may have done the same thing. Just a little FYI

How is that a kludge? They just released the 2003 drivers. You install the drivers, soft reset then insert the card. It works beautifully.

That is exactly right. I've talked to others that tried to use 2002 drivers and uninstalls did not fix it. Bottom line is 2002 drivers should not be installed on a 2003 device, no more than you should try cramming Win98 drivers on Windows XP. :)

A kludge would be when no previous socket drivers were installed and/or a HARD reset is required. I just installed the 2003 drivers did the soft reset.....nothing. But you're right perhaps some frustration on my part with many PPC 2002 apps and such "looking" like they work. My 2215 is behaving oddly. Grumble....grumble. :?

While working with a customer today who purchased a 2215 from me... I noticed that the Ambicom CF series of 802.11 cards have *BETA* CE 4.0 drivers that worked like a charm with 2003. You can find them here (http://www.ambicom.com/support/driverdownload/ddwl1100x-CF.htm)

It would've been nice if MS could've somehow implemented some checking of drivers, but oh well.

Has anybody tried, or is willing to try whether Socket's drivers work with Symbol's card? I've heard they're more or less the same card...

I too had to hard reset in order to get the Socket PPC 2003 drivers to work with my Socket card and the 2215. I had uninstalled their PPC 2002 drivers, but of course that never quite works for their driver, even with a manual renaming and removal of EAP.DLL (they replace the Windows version of the same DLL in their 2002 install) and removing the startup applets.

After the hard reset, it works like a champ. Of course, it's kinda lame that you can't sucessfully remove their older drivers and the new driver can't effectively replace/upgrade the old one *sigh*
On Brighthand, Steve Bush mentioned that the Socket PPC 2003 drivers worked for his Symbol card just fine.

I also had previously installed the SMC CF PPC 2002 drivers which worked fine, though you don't get the new PPC 2003 connection manager features with it. The SMC card is the only one I've found that works w/o PPC 2003-specific drivers.

Yes, I had to hard reset my 2215 TWICE to get the socket card to work. But...once I did, it all works fine now.
