Just reminding all you students and teachers who are registered in hp's academic program. After the academic discount it comes out to $359.99 w/free shipping. The only thing that sucks is that people in CA, TN, UT, and WI will have to pay for sales tax which for me, adds around $20  (I live in Utah) .Still, not too bad for a brand new model directly from the manufacturer.

Looks like I should decide if I want one before I move then... ;)

Where can I sign up for this educational program?

then choose the government & education link...

on the next page you can either use the dropdown box or choose the link to the k-12 online store or the higher education online store

then on the next page click on your state

then on the next page click on a contract

you can register by clicking on the register link in the left frame or you can look around...make sure you check out each of the contracts since the prices differ significantly...

good luck!

:)

What if I get my cousin in Arizona to buy it for me... would that work?

Awesome, thanks for the advice. Now I just need to decide if I want the 2210 for $356 or the 5500 for $579.

Thats going to be a tough one. Can anyone give me some suggestions? The 5500 has 128 RAM and WiFi, but I would need an expansion sleeve. The 2210 has dual slots, but no WiFi.

Hmmm . . . ?

Hard to say. But if you're definitely going to use WiFi, that makes the 2210 effectively a 1-slot device. That might help you decide.

Are you following links for educators (students/teachers)?

If ordering in the Midwest, the unit won't go out until at least July 1st though. I've put an order through an called the warehouse. Rep said there have been a lot of orders through the K-12 division alone.

I found an Ipaq 2210 for $293. In Idaho, is this the right price for me, in 8th grade?

I just placed an order at this same price. While I know I qualify for educational discounts, I'm still not sure the price will be honored.

If any of you work for large companies, see if you have EPP agreements with hp. I bought the 2215 fro $359.99.

Wow. Thanks all of you. I guess I just had a hard time believing a manufaturer would sell a $400 device for $293!

Anybody gotten confirmation on their orders yet?

I ordered mine. I'm a teacher in Illinois. The web price I got was 359. After a day I recieved an email confirmation which listed the price as 267! I called the distribution center and was quoted the July 1st shipment date. It is also pending shipment to review from the state's regional sales manager.

I got the impression that although my order was confirmed, all education sales must go through a regional educ sales manager's approval first.

As a side note, I create an account in the educational section, logged in and pulled up a 2210 for $293. That was also for Illinois.

Just got another confirmation. This one indicates 2210 has been shipped, and delivery is estimated at June 30th. Slightly different numbers, but this one can be confirmed through web invoice.

Price was $267

gaddamn! $267 if you go to a school in the Mass. Higher Ed. consortium. Woohoo!!

Incidentally, has anyone got Bluetooth with a PC dongle to cooperate nicely with a bluetooth Ipaq? i'd like to be able to be lazy and check email from the common room in my suite :-)
