However, it looks like CNET got their hands on one, and the performance looks promising!<br /><br />"Comparing the H1940 with the older model, we immediately noticed a big performance boost. Video and certain games ran much more smoothly. For example, playing Hexacto's baseball game was difficult on the H1910 because of swing-timing issues. On the H1940, it became a whole new ball game, and we were suddenly able to pepper the field with hits."<br /><br />They've already given it an Editor's Choice. And when SDIO Wi-Fi becomes available, this diminutive little unit will be just as powerful as the big boys. ;)

it sounds like all of those 2003 OS xscale optimizations really paid off with improved battery life

The following quote is from the Performance section:

"You may also use the Bluetooth to connect to a phone, a headset, or a PC for Internet access or syncing."

So the headset profile is finally available? Can anyone confirm this? I'm a little skeptical of CNet's reviews. If so, is it built into the OS or is it implemented by individual manufacturers?

By headset profile do you mean using it as a phone using a headset?

I doubt they implimented that. I like the improvements - it looks like there are a number of apps in ROM that weren't there before too - like the backup util and others.

If I were to upgrade, I'd probably go for the 2210 first, but still - this definately looks good.

They also have a 2210 review up,

The bad: Not as slim as the H1940.

Size Matters!

At least to me anyway. I have to come to conclusion. To experience the full benefits of being a "power user," a 2 lb. notebook is in order. But for PIM stuff, and multimedia(which I only find as practical use), this baby is a gem!

Built-in bluetooth is awesome.

If/when thepocketsolution.com releases a cover-up flip cover for the HP iPaq 1900 series, I'll buy the 1940. I don't like full cases, and I prefer a thin flip cover that doesn't add any bulk.

BOO YA! :alfdance: Great reviews. Looks like I was wrong about the inclusion of a 2.5-3.5 headphone adaptor. :( But I'm very happy that the Samsung processors are fast little beasts.

I'm resolved to go PPC-less for a couple of months... we'll see what happens. But I am VERY happy with the way things are turning out, and I imagine I'll be a proud 1940 owner in September.

Very nice. 8)

This is the form factor I've had my eyes on for a while, and now this new unit is making it even harder to hold out from buying one. Like what has already been said - Size matters. :)

I'll be curious to see some bechmark comparison's of the 1940's 266 Mhz processor vs. the 2215's 400Mhz X-scale. I wonder if we'll have a situation like AMD vs. Intel, where the lower clock speed of the Athlon is made up my a more efficient processing pipeline?

I am drooling a little over the 1940, but so far the 2215 is about as perfect as I could wish for from a PDA. My only wish would be for 128MB built in RAM.

yeah... if this thing really can perform with the big boys, i may get one of these. I've heard the 2210 can play SNES games in an emulator 30+ FPS... if ya can't get comparable performance from the Samsung processor, i'll hold off for the ASUS A620 or see what the Axim X3 brings to the table... otherwise i don't know that i'll be able to hold back
