Doesn't look as though any new modelsfrom Dell are going to be announced today.
(I got the link from another post, can't remember who's so I can't credit him/her with finding it. Sorry mate!)

From looking over what's new in PPC2003 I'd have to pass on this upgrade. If it was free or around $10 I'd upgrade. I don't do wireless Internet or BlueTooth so I don't see any reason to spend $30.
Hope the next PPC release will be worthwhile...
This is actually a pretty reasonable price. The upgrade from 2000 to 2002 was $50 for my IPAQ so I don't think $29 is unreasonable. It takes some effort for DELL to test the new OS and it sounds like they will be bundling some virus protection software as well. I will probably upgrade because I can't resist the latest and greatest.

Me too, I keep checking Dell's site to try to find the download link.

Apparantly it can be ordered over the phone, check the thread from the front page article. I think I'm going to wait a bit and decide if it's worth $30, or if I should just wait a few more months and get a whole new device. Looks like to get the speed benefits I'd need new hardware.

Yup, a big speed increase would be the only reason I can see to upgrade. From the looks of it, a older Axim will see little or no speed increase. I'll play the wait and see game and see what folks who upgrade say about it, then decide. If anyone has a older X5 advanced with PPC2003 on it speek up :D

I'll have to wait as well. I'm in the process of buying a new PC right now and don't have $30 to spend

I'm ashamed. I hate Ipaqs but I find myself strangely attracted to the 2200. Someone please remind me that I don't need a new PPC now!

There's always room for the latest and greatest. Go on... sell your old Pocket PC...buy the 2200

PETITE, YOU DONT NEED A NEW PPC !
WAIT FOR THE X3/X7 !
When I looked at ipaqs, I always have 2 things automatically popped up on my mind "What an average looking device" ... and "This model will probably be replaced in the next 4 months".
I guess the 2200 kills my first mind pop-up, since it is actually looks like a Dell :) But, it will still be replaced in 4 months or so. So, if I am purchasing a new PPC, it will be another Dell.

Well good thing I don't have any money right now eh? After I finish paying off the $1000 I'm going to have to pay for car repairs, if I have ANYTHING left over maybe I'll think about it :)

Hopefully X3 is out by the time you are done with the car repair.
Exactly the same spec. ,with 2210. priced at $100 lower.

Umm...no. From what I've heard, the X3 is supposed to be priced at around $150. However, it is truly a "budget" Pocket PC, low-featured, but small and light. It hardly seems like it would be a good replacement for an X5, though, and wouldn't even compete with a 2210 (which is priced at $400).
Just placed my order for the upgrade on-line. Expected shipment 7/25. You can get a 10% discount on the $29 price (Check out www.techbargains.com for the code). But you'll have to pay $5 in shipping for the CD. Looking forward to what PocketPC 2003 has to offer.
