The above-linked one seems to imply most work without a hitch, and I'd suspect others will be rapidly updated. If you have personal experiences, post them below!

So far for me personally I have not found a reason to actually upgrade to the 2003 OS as of yet. If there is some do or die reason, I would like to hear your comments on it

SPB Pocket Plus does not work....That is to be expected. It was tied so closely with the Pocket PC 2002 OS. I suspect they are working on it and will have an update soon.
The only app I know is Pocket Bible. It works, but the spacing is off now, presumably because of changes to IE, which PB uses to render pages. And cleartype doesn't work in it either. I hope both are minor issues.

We have emailed them about that they said they are aware , it's based on how Pocket IE renders pages (it piggy backs on IE) they say they are working on a fix and expect to release an update shortly.....

Read today that Extended Systems Mobile Solutions will support Microsoft's Windows Mobile 2003 Software for Pocket PCs as well.

Ironically, Microsoft Pocket Money doesn't work :)
MovianVPN causes my Toshiba e755 WiFi ti fail. Uninstall and all is fine again.
Audible.com books that were readable with Microsoft Reader do not work - but work fine with the Audible Player app.
CnetX Flash Format causes hard reset.
Notable apps that do work are Resco File Explorer, Registry editor and Sprite's Pocket Backup - personally tested by me after the Cnetx fiasco :)
I have found no game yet that doesn't work.

Dashboard beta 2.026 doesn't work - yet. Pre version 2, i.e. 1.5 does work.
Laridian Pocket Bible works
HPC Notes Pro 4.0 works

I'll second that. Finally we're getting new devices that respond better than my 3670!

I read on Novosec's site that Pocket Facelift doesn't work. Until I read other's experience, I do not believe that I am going to upgrade my Axim. I have a lot of games and applications and would hate to find out they are not compatible after upgrading.

Everyone here needs to understand that most apps work fine. It is those apps that go in and make changes to the UI like this won't always work out of the box. Apps like Pocket Plus, Pocket Blinds and others get deep deep deep into the devices API and UI to make changes. That is why they don't work on Pocket PC 2000 either. Obviously they will need to be tweaked for Pocket PC 2003. I bet Dashboard will need some changes too though I haven't tested that firsthand.

Do you think task switchers (WISbar, Icbar, GigaBar, GigaTask...) will be affected by this? The latter is essentially iTask on a wee bit of steroids although it has the ability to modify the appearance and function of the infamous X.

I difinitely think they fall into the "possible" category. These things are sort of like PalmOS hacks. Few V4 hacks worked right with OS5. This is like expecting deep Windows 98 UI tweaks to run with WIndows 2000 or Windows XP.
By and large though, mainstream software apps work fine. It is the UI utilities and possibly games (again, deep API calls and even hacks to get things to work as expected) that you should be careful of.

I have had my 2215 since last week and have had both ICbar and WISbar running (at different times, of course) without problems. ICbar has no problems with skinning the task and menu bars. WISbar advanced still has issues with taskbar icons flickering- more of a code issue I think since it is on both PPC 2002 and 2003.

FYI Portions of Spb GPRS Monitor don't work on the 2215. Specificall the battery icon on the today screen plugin doesn't jump to the battery management app when tapped. The IE icon works fine.

PocketMVP doesn't work with ppc 2003.
The developer has been quiet on thier forums, and their is much speculation his girlfriend is stealing his time from fixing this. :( ;)

OK- just got done with a chat with a MS "support professional" re: money and the PPC2003 install error. Below is his info-packed :devilboy: response:
{Rob} Well David, you can't use this with money 2003. It's something about the setup of these files, it won't work with money 2003. But it will work with money 2004, at this I'm not sure if they are going to fix it or just have customers get money 2004
Nice, huh?

This thread kinda reminds me of my frustration of the strip coding on the DOS operating system. Suppose your PC is running DOS 2.0, and you have a file you get from your friend's PC, an fdisk from DOS version 2.1 ... you run it on your PC, and all you can see is "incorrect DOS version". he heh.
Well folks, microsoft wants you to buy their newer products every now and then. If not, Mr. Gates will no longer be the richest man in the world.

I finally broke down and bought the 2215. I've finally moved on from my 38xx to a device that meets nearly all my requirements; however, until PMVP gets fixed, I'll be forced to carry around both devices when I fly (which is often). Maybe it's time we all pitch in for a bribe offer to his g-friend!!

Out of curiosity, as a person who struggle with my daily needs ... I am always wondering about their life. It must be really nice to be very rich ... but, isnt it became boring after the first 5 years ?
What will they do to have fun ? I mean, they have everything. When you have everything ... everything became boring.

At that point, you rely on something unique and "priceless", like your little brother's crayola creation that he put together while being inspired by Barney the dinosaur!!

I once took "a rich guy" to Best Buy, told him he could get whatever he wanted, but could only spend $20.
The $ wasn't the gift, the "limitation" was. It actually worked. Too bad it's not a gag worth repeating with him...
BTW - this was straight out of my childhood. When I was a kid, this nice old lady would take me to Toys R Us on my birthday and tell me I had $20 to spend, and I could get *whatever* I wanted. I always had a great time trying to maximize my dollar's value.
Of course, having a REAL budget now is much less fun... ;)

You mean this thread is not about gift-giving with the rich?
Actually, having played with the 2215 for a couple of days now, I'm getting a headache trying to weed out the programs that are causing my system instability. From my group of apps I know that the legacy Targus Stowaway drivers won't work (don't even have an adapter to fit the keyboard to my PPC so don't ask me why I tried to install the drivers anyway). One of my SIPs (JSKeyXTension which I rely on for Thai input) works but is causing random instability. Several others that either display funny or have lost some functionality but nothing else seeming to impact system stability.

Does anyone know if Inkspot CE works on Pocket PC 2003? They haven't updated the app since WinCE and I've been living with the broken features since... Wondering if 2003 will finally break it :?:

I have found no game yet that doesn't work.
Fifa 2002 doesn't.
I don't want to spend another 3 hours figuring out what works and what doesn't on my 2215...
Up to now, this is what I know doesn't work:
•Fifa 2002
•Money for Pocket PC
•Nyditot Virtual Display
•Battery Pack 2003
•MidNote (I think it's actually the Pocket C Runtime for WinCE that doesn't work...)
Anywho... If anybody is interested in providing input for a very comprehensive list, I offer my site for such deal. I'll post incompatible software at www.manueldelatorre.com/ppc2003 (I know it's a really freakin' hard to remember URL, but that's the only one I got... ) If you want to submit incompatible software (and please do), email me at
[email protected]. Let's see if we can save people some headaches.
Cheers,
M

I think there is an update on the WebIS web site that addresses this - no new functionality, just PPC2003 compatibility.
