View Full Version : Sniffing software that works with Truemobile 1180 CF?

I tried AirSniffer, and it's kind of slow and only displays packet info.

I can't get MiniStumbler to work with my Truemobile 1180. Any ideas?

PocketWarrior won't work either!

I can use the included Dell Client App to latch into a network, but the AP searching utility included with the CF card is not automatic or always-on.

I need an app that will continuous scan for APs and display SSID info, etc., and is compatible with the Dell Truemobile 1180 CF card.

No, I do not plan on hacking into them!

Hey there

i am waiting on delivery of my X5 with the Truemobile LAN card and was wondering how you found the performance and range of that combo?

I've ordered the NIC on the basis that I got a great deal on it (my company spends lots of $$ with Dell so they cut me a nice deal on an X5 and quite a few accessories). However, I hadn't really researched the NIC much

TIA

I'm sending this from my wireless Axim!

They "work together" very nicely, although the "dell client" app is a no-frills deal.

Range seems decent to me, but then again this is first wireless experience. From my van in the driveway, I can get a "marginal" connection to the router in the basement.

The client app only says "excellent" "good" or "marginal", a percent would be nice...

Using block recognizer is getting old very fast!

MiniStumbler (at least the current version, there should be a new version out by the end of the month) only works with Hermes chipset-based cards. There are (at least) two versions of the TrueMobile cards: one with a Prism chipset (doesn't work with MiniStumbler) and one with a Hermes chipset (works fine with MiniStumbler). Unfortunately, I can't remember which version is which.

PocketWarrior should work with it. I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't. Unless you have a really old version of PW. Check here (http://www.pocketwarrior.org/pwdl.html) to upgrade.

I'm curious why anybody would "need" this, but have you tried Cirond's WiNc (http://www.cirond.com/site/products/wifispotter/download_software.htm)?

Pretty sure this one will not work with the Dell Prism based card. I had the same problem with my Z-com/Netgear card and the only way I could get it to work was a hack involving the Intersil Reference Driver. Check out this thread on the Aximsite:

Worth reading through the whole thread even though it is pretty long.

Why are you so sure? It works on my SMC Prism-based card (with the Intersil generic Prism drivers).

Sorry I should have been clearer in my post - that is what I meant it will not work without the Intersil drivers.
