Welcome to the new digs! The FIRST person who posts a response to this message (once the DNS changes have gone through) will win a Microsoft Amiga Pocket Pak, courtesy of Microsoft. The race is on...<br /><br /><b>UPDATE:</b> We of course <a href="http://pocketpcthoughts.thoughtsmedia.com/images/haiku.gif">did our customary haiku</a> for the move. :D

Indeed, you're the winner! Jeese, even when I switch servers I can't have contests that last very long.  Congrats!

What is the Amiga Pocket Pak?
That's a good question, ain't it. I have no clue either. :-D

BTW, there may very well be minor quirks over the next 24 hours or so. Fabrizio, our brilliant web developer, worked hard to make sure it's seamless, but we've upgraded Apache, php, and a ton of other stuff, so please bear with us. :)

What is the Amiga Pocket Pak?

It's a little SD card with cool Amiga games on it. I think CompUSA is selling them. :-)

even though I didn't win anything, I'm glad your back!

I was lost the last few hours and had to start surfing the forums on other sites........ It just wasn't the same. :)

and I thought that someone hacked the site. :)

well, anyway, is there a prize for someone living outside the U.S. and Canada who posted as soon as he wake up in the morning ? I use my right hand to type this post, and brushing my teeth with my left hand. That should qualify for a prize

What font did you use to make that? I love it.

Trust me, it's not psychological - our old server was always getting hammered, which would result in everything slowing down, and when things got to be too slow (a load of 10 or more), we had a script that would kill everything and restart the Web and database services. This new server is much more powerful, so service restarts shouldn't be needed.

It's called AlphaMack AOE, which I think it's it's installed as part of Age of Empires... 8)

I check this webpage everyday to find out about the news and realized that it was down last night and early this morning. Was this a planned thing because I didn't see any notice posted that this might occur.

But why cry about spilt milk.

Yeah, it's weird going to other forums. It's the same but,... different. It's like going to a different rock club than the one you usually go to, but in the same city. You see a couple people you recognize, but mostly it's a different crowd.

Site is nice and snappy now - good job, and thanks!

It looks like the RSS feed may have been a victim of the move, however:

The new hardware is serving you well. Great job on the upgrade!

I'm just curious what will happen to the old server. Is that where SP Thoughts is going to reside until it becomes too popular?

Keep up the great work,

Al

Actually, it probably came from the Astigmatic One Eye (http://www.astigmatic.com/) font foundry....

Just checked, it's in the "free fonts" section there.

AOL and your PHP thingee would not let me post messages. ( Unless I would access the site thru IE )

Let's see what happens w/ your new setup. Fingers crossed!

*EDIT*

Wow! Success! Cool!

It was valid before? I know I've complained to Jason a couple of times about how any text in bold or italics gets stripped out.

Haha - whoops, bad guess as to what "AOE" stood for on my part then. ;-)

What's the deal with my cable ISP, they must be running transparent web cache proxies or something (had earlier tried different DNS lookups to no avail). Have only now able to access new PPCT server directly (it's been displaying the haiku for the longest time).

I've been forced to access the site via a (anonymizing) proxy, until just now...

P.S. I've noticed the same troubles accessing from this ISP when playing around in general w/ changing domain IPs, dynamic DNS, etc.

Does it help if you press down CONTROL+F5? That forces a cache bypass, and can sometimes help with proxy caches as well.
