View Full Version : Wireless memory leaks?

Hi All.

I wanted to appeal to the vast collective knowledge of PPCT...
I have been experimenting with both WIFI (803.11b) and 1x/CDMA PCMCIA cards in my iPaq. While both seem to run fine with my CF-to-PCMCIA adapter and I can browse and IM and the like, I find that after riding the air-currents using either card, the memory seems to diminish to the point where I have to do a soft-restart almost everytime I use it. I found the 1x card to be particularly hungry since this morning was the first time I have seen the "please close one of these programs" window.
I use PPC+ to auto close apps after I am done with them, so I know it has nothing to do with the apps running and the iPaq not managing memory. I also load most connection-based programs onto my CF card to keep the on-board RAM relatively clean, and since I will have the dual CF sleeve on in order to use the wireless cards, it seems to make sense.
Has anyone else experienced a significant memory bleed using wireless cards?
For reference here are the devices I am using:
iPaq 3630 (32 Mb RAM) with roughly 6Mb free after a soft-restart
PPC2002
dual Reya CF sleeve
128 Mb CF card with various apps and music installed
CF to PCMCIA adapter
Cisco Aironet 340 802.11b PCMCIA
Sierra Aircard 555 model CDMA 2000 (1x/CDMA)
Wireless apps:
Sierra Aircard Watcher
Cisco ACU (connection setup and wifi watcher)
General connection apps:
vxUtil for diagnostic purposes
JabberCE for ICQ, MSN IM
Pocket IE

Any thoughts?
