It should read feedback from the microphone and IR port for the short-range scanning osiloscope. That would be much more ... interactive.

Nice! Another tricorder program!
For Halloween last year I wore a StarTrek NG outfit, and had the free ScaryBear Tricorder software installed on my iPAQ where I had customized the scans to show photos of the halloween party's hostess and other attendees, while also displaying humorous scan results such as "No sexually transmitted diseases found." :)
I had also created a Star Trek Today screen theme, though I didn't have time to do a Media Player skin. Of course I added some star trek sound effects as well. It was great! :)

Didn't some company or other get whipped on this board for selling copyrighted themes a couple days ago? Seems unlikely that this Raphael guy has the Star Trek License. No offense Raphael but this should be completely freeware if you are going to use the Star Trek Icon, style and terminology unlicensed.

Reading your site it looks like you request a contribution instead of an actual payment so maybe it's just the article above's wording that should be changed.

I found this a looooong time ago. It is a customizable program launcher. It is a full screen app that makes your pocket pc look like an LCARS PADD from ST:TNG. I saw this tricorder thing and spent 30 mintues digging around my hard drive to find it. It's pretty cool. great sound effects. You can customize 3 tabs with six apps on each. You can even rename the tabs. I just re-installed it for the first time in 4 PPCs and configured my apps to launch. I can pretty much launch every app that I consistently use. Total dorkage going on here :D

It is only $1.50 and requires the free NSBasic libraries (http://www.nsbasic.com/pub/NSBCE_files/updates/Runtime.ppc.exe).

Guess all of us MIPS/SH3 geeks are left out in the cold.... man it sucks not being able to afford a new device.

Hey, thanks for all your feedback, everyone. Hope you're enjoying the program. Don't worry, I was a MIPS user myself (first PocketPC was a Cassiopeia E-115), so give me a day or two and I'll recompile everything for the MIPS platform. It's my first program, and yes, I'd like to do something more useful with my skills , so if you have any ideas or suggestions, please send me an e-mail to pocketpcATraphael143.com. Thanks again!

Ok, couldn't wait. Since I don't have a MIPS device anymore, I'm hoping someone can play guinea-pig for my possible MIPS release of Pocket Tricorder.

http://www.raphael143.com/downloads/pocketpc/PocketTricorder_PPC.MIPS.CAB

Don't forget to download the NSBasic runtime module at http://www.nsbasic.com/ce/support/downloads.html.

Just remember that the program may not run as fast or smoothly on an older MIPS device as it would on an ARM, but only you'll be able to tell for sure.

Thanks, everyone!

Scarybear has a cute tricorder app for which you can change the pics and text. Simpler, but cute.

There's also a great LCARS skin for MP:
http://www.chromejob.com/images/pda/wince_mp71_lcars_lanois.gif I have another one that I think was discussed around here ... has a big UFP logo at the center ... no screen shot, it needs a little work, too.

I am currently using Dashboard with ICbar and have this LCARS implementation. Man! Talk about geeky!

OK, I can't get the image to show so here's the link:

I installed it, but get an error message when I try to run it. All of the sound files are there, as well as the other files.

"There is no application associated with "Pocket Tricorder". Run the application first, then open this file from within the application."

Please send in your ideas, I LOVE the sound files! :D

From that error message, it looks like the NSBasic runtime modules have not been installed or were not installed properly. It doesn't matter at this point if they are installed before or after Pocket Tricorder, so give it a shot and send me an email if you have any additional issues with it. Thanks!

Sound files result in some clicking, otherwise it seems to launch okay. Yes, the sound files are terrific.

After registration, played with as many screen tap areas as I could. Fun toy, and seems to work fine on an E-125. :way to go:
