I was wondiering if anyone has come across any good software which gives turn-by-turn directions for maps in the U.S.
So far i've used Pocket Streets, which is alright, but going to a specific street is hard. I tried using Mapopolis, but it seems like their demo does not work. I've also tried using TomTom's Route Planner, but that only gets you from city to city.
I've also used TomTom's Navigator, but that was soley for Europe.
Any real map programs which can actually give turn-by-turn directions within the U.S?

I have been using a program called PORTABLE GUIDE. It allows me to store the map for the whole state/county in memory and works just like a normal mapping system right from within the PDA. Does the lookup, and zoom live. It will also create directions for you on the fly. Not like some of the other stuff that forces you to download a predetermined map and directions into the PDA before you get lost.
Here is the link - http://www.portableinternet.com/guide_drive.htm
I know they have gone through some major changes - I don't know how it works now... But I bought the app over a year ago and downloaded all the available maps before they changed over to a new version. Check out there web site and let me know if you need anything...

Oh lucky person. Navigator for the US is about to be launched. Details should be somewhere on TomTom's site.

Yes the following link will take you to the TomTom product offerings in the US:
http://www.tomtom.com/products/platform/index.php?Platform=2&Language=4
They include the Navigator Software alone or with a wired GPS or Bluetooth GPS unit.
I was a Field Tester and have only seen their beta versions, but it is
a superior product in most areas (I had some accuracy issues with the
TeleAtlas maps in my community)
You can ready a UK based review of the software functionality at:

This is a fun and functional piece of software to use. The entire state of
Alabama is only 24meg on your storage card. The complete states of
Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina nd Mississippi
is 149 megs. Either fits quite nicely on a SD or CF card in my Dell Axim.
Voice navigation, rerouting and Route planning all work as advertised.
