Dear all,

I am considering using my iPAQ for the configuration and data storage of some environmental monitoring hardware that I am developing and would like to use serial communications and the comm control feature of eVB. Some articles I have read suggest that I need a CF sleeve and a CF serial card. Does anyone know if the communications port at the base of the iPAQ can be used for serial comms or do I indeed need to purchase a sleeve and a CF serial card. If the iPAQ port can be used does anyone have any information about how?

Many thanks,

Jason James.

It should be possible to buy a cable to plug into the bottom of the unit with an RS232c connector on the other end that can then be used fully with the appropriate software.

Just FYI, we are in the final stages of releasing our new .NET component for Serial Communications on the .NET Compact Framework (pocket PC's) -- e-mail me at [email protected] if you'd like me to send you over a copy.

We'll be licensing it at a low price per developer instead of charging any royalties as well, which is really exciting.

Larry Bank used to write a column for Brighthand and did a huge artice on developing a driver for the Gravis Stinger game pad for the 3650. While I can't find this article the links below may help you out

Brighthand thread

I was unable to find the source but I know it was freely available. Sorry I can't help more but that was one of the best articles for serial programming on the ipaq I have ever seen.
