I have an HP 5455. Wifi worked ok for a while. I used it for several days. One day, it just stopped working ... the lights don't light up. I just finished updating the ROM and immediately after rebooting the machine, it still does not work... I still can initialize the WiFi -- no blinking lights, nothing.

I am wondering if it is a hardware problem???? Anybody else seen this?

any suggestions?

Ralph

:D Yes, I've seen this problem on my 5455 a couple of times. It is easy to fix. Turn off the Ipaq, take out the battery, put the battery back in, and turn back on. (Just take the battery out a second, not long enough for a hard reset.) This has fixed the problem on mine every time.

I don't know why it does it, and I don't know why a soft reset doesn't fix it. I do know that taking the battery out fixes it.

Hope this helps.

Have you pulled the battery and tried pushing the reset button, then put the battery back in and press the reset button again. Note that this may cause a hard reset. Also you may want to try a forced hard reset. If none of this helps it maybe time to send the unit back to Hp.

This should work. There seems to be a problem with powering the device occasionally. If the unit doesn't receive a STRONG flow of current when charging, the Battery appears to discharge "dirty." This is further complicated if you're using USB Charging. Sometimes, USB ports don't provide enough power and the device isn't charged right.

Under powered USB ports can damage your device! If you're using USB Charging and having this problem, turn off USB Charging. Pull the battery on your 5455 and reinsert it. Turn the device back on, and the problem should be gone.

If this doesn't work, you may want to returnthe unit and have it serviced.

Good Luck! Keep us posted.
