I do not have any encryption software other than biometric scanner that came with.
If we use any third party software for encryption of some files or folders, will that be effective for those files on storage card?
To explain better- if the storage card is removed from the IPAQ and if it contains files (such as pocket word document format) that were encrypted through the PDA, can this SD card be taken out and viewed with card reader on the PC?
Thanks

If you use a third party encryption software, you can encrypt files on the SD Card.
Then, with a PC card reader, I think you can view them... but, if you want to read them, you'll nead a PC software that use the same encryption algorythms (and the password, of course !!).
Resco Explorer 2003 allows that : http://www.resco-net.com/explorer.asp

Resco File explorer 2003 has an encryption function that you can encrypt and decrypt right from your pocket pc

You can decrypt on on a desktop that has resco installed

Thank you for the information. I was concerned that if I lose my ipaq with fingerprint scanner but if my sensitive files are on the SD card, the person who stole or got my ipaq can virtually access my files on SD card and I will be under false sense of security that I have a secure biometric scanner.
Hence, I was interested to know if these 3rd party security softwares encrypt the files irrespective of the medium (PDA) through it is done.
Thanks once again.
