Since Real Player for the PPC is useless, I had to come up with another way to stream a radio station to my PPC. I ended up downloading WM Encoder and set it to broadcast over my home network whatever was playing on the soundcard of my desktop.

Works great with my laptop. I pop the URL (http://desktop:80) into WMP on my laptop and I get the sound instantly. My PPC is another story. I've tried the url above, and the direct IP, and the direct IP with a port number. No luck.

I'm connecting everything by way of a USR 802.11b router. It's driving me nuts that the laptop works and my PPC won't. Any help I can get from the experts here who have made it work would be greatly appreciated as you guys always seem to have the answers!

Thanks!

This isn't exactly what you're describing but I had trouble with streaming as well. I bought an e740 last summer specifically for streaming radio from links in web pages (like BBC). Neither the ppc media player or real one mobile players would do it. They would both only stream from the real and microsoft mobile homepages. I'm really hoping that ppc 2003 will have this ability.

This is probably the same case as this (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=13180), i.e. the sampling frequency is set too high at 48kHz. The parameters supported on PPC are more limited. I wonder if it is better on the 2k3 devices?
