I seem to be noticing more and more Pocket PCs for sale in the forums. Are people selling their Pocket PCs in anticipation of the new models to come out in a few short weeks? Are you going to buy a new Pocket PC, and if so, what will be the fate of your old one?

I guess keep them... I have Newtons and Palms in a drawer... I never remember to sell them when they are worth anything...

Anyone want 4 Palm IIIxe's?

I haven't had to deal with this since I moved from my Palm m505 back to Pocket PCs a couple years ago. I went through four Casio E-200s and two Toshiba e740s before landing on my current iPAQ h5455. Each move from one model to another was handled via CompUSA's TAP replacement program due to legitimate harware problems. (In other words, I didn't use the service as though it were the CompUSA $99 Upgrade Program.) Because of that, I haven't had an old Pocket PC to do anything with.

If I did have an old one, however, I would probably either sell it or give it to my mom so she won't kill my batteries with Diamond Mine, TextTwist, or BookWorm (http://www.astraware.com/) whenever I visit. :D

Honestly had you mentioned that two weeks ago, I'd have had use for two of them. :)

I still regret getting rid of my first portable (a Compaq lugable, the size and weight of a sewing machince, but man was it sleek for those days). So I think I'll hang on to my Newton. I could part with my Toshiba e740 for the right price if I had a chance to move to linux pda with comparable hardware without cost.

I'm actually browsing ebay waiting for and EM-500 to fall into the $60-$70 range, so I guess I'm moving backwards. I really miss my old device and would like one for nostalgia's sake.

I sell my hand-me-downs to people in the office at deep, deep discounts (usually 25-30% of original value. The sale comes with user training and lifetime tech support. Basically, the best deal in town. No wonder that I have a waiting list.

I usually get the new PDA urge every 5-6 months. Hey, my 5450 is going on six months old.

If you have a stash of old pocket pcs in the drawer that you don't use, why not donate them to a local charity shop. They are always pleased to get old computer equipment as they always sell and get people into the shop.

I keep them. Partially as back-up system, partially because i love to see how the PDA's developped over time......

Well My reborn HP 568 is serving me just fine for the moment, but when the time does come to upgrade (I am keenly waiting on full specs for the HP 2200) it will probably go on ebay to help fund the purchase.

However, like some others who have posted to this thread - I just cannot part with my Newtons :D

Gave my old 3630 to the wife when I bought my e740 and taught her the ways of the nerds.

She's hooked on it now.

I always give my old PPC to my wife. That not only makes her happy, but also makes it easier to justify when I want another new one. ("Gosh dear, your PPC is getting pretty old. How about if I give you this newer one? Don't worry about me; I'll pick up something somewhere.")

I'm using the Ipaq 3635 for development. The Axim for my day-to-day PDA stuff.

I still have my Jornada 525 ( Hey, it was on sale). I'll use it if I have a table off balance or something. Maybe a door stop.

I've sold all three of my "retirees" to the same guy. An Everex Freestyle, and HP 458, and an Audiovox Maestro. I bought the extended service agreement for my e740 (which has a plethora of problems) so I guess it's going back to Best Buy as soon as they get the new HP models in.

How do you balance it on top of the lime that's sticking out of the bottle?

I've given my old pdas to my wife too. Except for the Nino, that I gave to a coworker. I've given my wife the Palm V, then the Palm Vx, and now she's using my old iPAQ 3630 (though she's also still using the Palm Vx coz that's smaller and fits better in her purse). Currently I'm using the iPAQ 3970.

I hold onto my devices for a couple of reasons....

-So I never forget my roots :)
-The amount i would make from selling them is so much less than what I paid for them so I would feel like a chump.
-I become emotionally attached to my devices :ppclove:

I also use my E-105 and H3670 as alarm clocks. I can set upto 5 alarms for each one 8O The obnoxious Pocket PC alarm sounds are quite good at waking me up...especially when there is a chorus of them going off

After I bought my 3955, my 3765 has now become the "family" PDA. My wife keeps the calander up to date on it and I installed all her favorite games. It has Pocket TV Browser on it so we use it like our TV Guide. My son and I play Snails and Battleship all the time over WiFi. It is great to have around when you can't find the remote. Also, it works good as an intercom when running MS Portrait.

I couldn't sell it, and I haven't quit given it away either.

Its mine...

My precious.

I still have my trusty(err...crusty) 3135..the monochrome IPAQ. Was gonna give to my GF, but we broke up hehehe. Good thing someone wants to buy it for $150..now I'm having second thoughts. Was gonna buy a 1910 but seems like I'll be waiting for the 1945. Sigh...progress makes you wait forever :?
