Jeez, I must not be geeky enough. I do not even pay attention to the one today screen I have.

Has anyone tried this with Dashboard? I'd like to have one Today screen with my various plug-ins and another with the Dashboard interface.

I think it looks handy. I have just installed the WorldMate trial, and I can't figure out if I want it on my today screen or not. I like to see the weather forecast at a glance, especially in the mornings, and sometimes the different city times are useful. The again, it uses a lot of screen real estate... With Today X I can show/hide it easily. The same goes for VBirthday.

Only wish I could customize it to show different screens at different times. F.x. one in the mornings, one at work, and one for my personal free time.

If not for the fact that it takes up today screen space this would be really great. I like the way that JGUI's works, it is the same concept, but places an icon down in the nav bar next to the new button. The only problem is, I have found theirs to be kind of finniky.

Wu-Wei, I haven't tried it with Dashboard. I'm using Pocket Facelift. I love it because I'm using tagenda. Now I have page 1 for Power Status, Journal Bar and Desktop icons. I could put tagenda on page2 and just view the appointment and tasks for the next 7 days.

Now what I really wanted to do was have page3 with game icons only but because Pocket Facelift uses pfaceLauncher, any items I check will show up on that page. I'm sure it would be something that Pocket Facelift would have to offer - having two launchers. Maybe I'll put a bug in their ear.

Has anybody tried this with ThemeDream? I might give it a try if nobody else has...

The current Dashboard beta can do this - sort of. As you know, Dash has 5 different screens that replace the Today page. They are:
Agenda
Mail
Tasks
Laucher
Contacts

Each one of these pages is capable of accepting Today page plug-ins. Each page can also sport a different graphic. The only limitation is that the Dash program associated with the page can only be viewed on the page. I.e. Contacts can only be configured on the Contacts page. If you wanted to use only plug-ins, you could. Dash does not require you to display the individual page programs.

Yes, it was rather good.

What is that supposed to mean??

I think that a today screen taking up today screen space is self iterating...

Is there any plugin that will automatically cycle thorugh today screens, once a day? Something like Wallpaper changer for the PPC?

Hey, I never said that! It was that Charles guy in the seat next to me, that freakin' gerbil got it all wrong... I was just trying to hit on that spacewaitress... [Okay, no more drinks for the loud, obnoxious guy on row 16, aisle seat]

Yup, that was me. What I meant was that once this is installed, in addition to adding three more today pages, it is also a plug-in itself, which takes up space, as compared to a similar program by another developer which does the same thing without taking up space on the today screen. I am very picky about what goes on my today page, and this reminds of MS's free theme switcher, why waste the space with a plugin when a small sys tray icon will do the same thing?

Don’t worry about the loud obnoxious guy on row 16 - I widdled in his drink.

You are correct dear sir. I have inadvertently libelled your good character (now corrected). I suggest a duel to settle things. Pistols at dawn?

(I bagsie the machine gun!) :armed:

To go off/on topic,, what does MS's free theme switcher do and what is it called?

Even more off topic - now I am on dialup (moved house, waiting for ADSL), does anyone else notice how the extended emoticons don't seem to get cached, but get reloaded each time? Any idea why? It is a royal pain waiting for them to load EACH TIME on 45k :()

To go off/on topic,, what does MS's free theme switcher do and what is it called?

It is included with their free theme generator software (you must have XP or 2000 for it to install) and can be downloaded at PocketPC.com

I'd like to ask a question a little off-topic.

What is that T-Mobile icon on Today screen? What kind of software/service is that?

I also have T-Mobile service but never saw anything like this...

Thanks, javascript:emoticon(':D')

You should be forewarned that at the download page for Theme Generator v2 (http://www.microsoft.com/mobile/pocketpc/downloads/themegenerator.asp), only the Download Now button actually links to the Theme Generator v2. The first link links to version 1.

Well, since you challenge me, the rules demand I choose the weapons. And I was thinking more along these lines:

Thanks dcharles18, that was EXACTLY what I was looking for! :!: :D Now I just need to see if the today screen will cycle every day, even if I don’t display ‘Theme switch’ on the today screen itself.

thomas1973 - Firing specially hardened mice at each other via miniature catapults? Great!!! My good friend Frankie the mouse will be my Second for the Duel. (Your headache is probably a foreshadowing of Frankie hitting your noggin at 200mph.).

(The squelching in your airline shoes is entirely explainable as well).

Unfortunatly, it won't :( . Even though it has an enable/disable button in it's setup (which I thought was for this thing exactly), it just won't... I wasn't going to wait for MS to update it to do so, so I bought ThemeKing, and I'm pretty happy with it :D

Hmmmm, I can’t seem to get the ‘Auto Switch Mode’ to work. I ticked the ‘Auto Switch Mode’ box, selected 2 minutes and selected my themes and clicked on OK, making sure that the ‘Disable’ setting was not ticked.

Result, nothing happens, the theme does not every change automatically. I tried soft resetting, but no dice

Does anyone use Theme Switch and have this setting working? I have a Dell Axim X5.

Bother. :( Just read your post Thomas (Why the 1973 by the way? DOB?)

So, does ThemeKing do the daily switching? I am nervous buying software a month before the next PPC version is released.

Yep, it does the theme switching. You can set it to any time interval you like. And it supports random next theme, which MS doesn't. There are other themeswitchers out there that does the same thing, like ThemeDream. ThemeKing was the cheapest, and had a nice layout...

Most (if not all) PPC2002 apps should be supported in PPC2003, that's the word anyway... So I wouldn't worry too much.

Fair enough - but the 'word' has been known to be wrong before. :?

I am not ammused that Theme Switch does not work the way it is meant to. How did that get through the testing phase? As a software tester that really ticks me off.

Thanks for the heads up guys - I will have a closer look at both. 8) [/code]

Well oh young ones, Theme Switch has sudenly started working. :D Don't ask me why. I just changed the settings from one minute to 60, then one day, then 5 minutes - and it started changing. Odd. So it works sometimes - which is nice. :) But then again - it sometimes stops working - which is not. :?

Tempramental bit of SW this.....
