HP has released two software updates for the iPAQ 5400 series. The first is <a href="http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/handheldiPAQ/us/download/18259.html">Digital Concepts Bust'em</a> version 1.21. Ok, I admit, I have no clue what that is. Is it a game that came on the 5400's CD?<br /><br />The second is <a href="http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/handheldiPAQ/us/download/18261.html">Conduit's Peacemaker Pro</a> 1.25.

Whilst I can see these from your links they don't appear to be on the list of updates (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?pnameOID=100786&locale=en_US&taskId=135&prodTypeId=215348&prodSeriesId=322914) (yet). :? I've been watching this for a rumoured BIOS update to supercede 1.10.xx.

Ahh well, that's because, like me, you've been looking for updates for the 5450. This one is for the 5455!! If you search again using 5455, you'll find it.

Don't know why, as far as I know the two units are identical. Must be some sort of licencing issue with Conduits, meaning they want to restrict it to certain teritories?

Already thought of that. When I searched for 5455 I got this (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?pnameOID=100787&locale=en_US&taskId=135&prodTypeId=215348&prodSeriesId=296075) which (at time of writing) doesn't list these. Very odd. :?

Strange, very strange! You're looking at a different list to me. I'm looking here (http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/handheldiPAQ/us/locate/71_5560.html), and it's listed for the 5455 but not the 5450.

Oh well, it's no big deal - it's only a trial version anyway.

Greetings,

Indeed, HP has posted this version of Peacemaker Pro only for IPAQ 5455 devices. It is a licensed copy for that device only. The 5455's (or any XXX5 model for that matter) are HP's "retail" devices -- i.e. the ones you see at Amazon, Best Buy, etc. All others (XXX0) are the bulk and wholesale units. The different packages have differing bundles of software.

Bust'em be a good game! Much time wasted with it. Plus, my 8 year old son loves it too!

Changing the search parameters from 5450 to 5455 does show both of these updates. I just pulled both down for my 5455.

My apologies for any confusion.

Kind Regards,

That's not true worldwide. The 5450 is the retail version here in the UK. It's what I have, bought retail. In fact as far as I know, it's the ONLY version you can get over here!

I've seen this comment before, saying also that the 5455 is packaged in the "pretty" box, while the 5450 is in the plain box ready for wholesale distribution. However my 5450 came in the retail box, so I recon it's actually just designed to confuse!

And no, they don't come with different software as far as I can find out. The CD in the box is generic for ALL 5400's. It's titled "hp iPAQ Pocket PC h5400 series".

Bust'em is the best arkanoid clone out on the market. It's also the first game released (I believe) for the PocketPC by Monkeystone Software, run by former ID designer John Romero.

You should check it out, it's extremely well done!

Sorted. Way to go Conduits - FANTASTIC service, you should be proud!!!
