View Full Version : How do I get a sound recording out of notes?
Okay, so I used the "Notes" feature on my Toshiba PPC to record a bit of audio. It's synced with Outlook and I can open the note and play it on either Outlook or the PPC, but I can't figure out just HOW I get that sound file OUT of the note and into a useful format, like .wav. Can't right-click and save as, can't cut-and-paste to the Windows Sound Recorder, can't even drag the object out into something like Word.
Any suggestions?
If it's not possible, is there any way to record a .wav file directly on my PPC?
Thanks in advance!
Tom.

I changed my default recording format to something that good ol' SNDREC32.EXE would accept, 11025 hz, mono, 8-bit I think. I also copy them from RAM to storage card from time to time to free up memory. Generally, I can copy them from there using ActiveSync Explorer and just drag them to my PC.
What I don't know ... and still wonder about ... is that on my PC at work, the recordings would show up as .WAV files under the synced folders. It doesn't happen on teh PC at home. And ActiveSync settings are, as far as I know, the same. (Specifically, I have not changed the default AS settings for .WAV files.) Anyone else noticed this?
Rather roundabout, but it worked.
Copy the .pwi file to my PC using the explore function in Activesync. Double-click to open it. Right-click on the sound object and edit.
Would think you could save-as from here, but you can't. Did a copy, opened a new sound recorder instance, pasted. Whew. Now I have a useful format I can save as a .wav file and edit.

Sounds like you're creating new NOTES with SOUND recordings inside them. Have you tried just making a recording? (Some PPCs don't ahve a Record button, I know. Mine does. YMMV.)
