Interested in using this program... I'm in the Navy and have visited quite a few foreign ports. Does it offer any downloadable street maps other than the U.S.?

Yes they do, at http://www.microsoft.com/pocketstreets/mapdownload/MapDownload_EN.html you can pick a country and then the city. There are not a great number of them in the scheme of things but they do have the major cities. Most are above the equator since they seem to get the maps from Streets and Trips (US and Canada, sort of) and Autoroute (Europe).

I'd recommend buying Streets and Trips, it comes with Pocket Streets and picking up Autoroute if/when you get to Europe. That is actually a pretty cheap proposition. There are of course man other mapping programs, but it does seem that the maps seem to stick to Europe and the US more than not.

I agree with Sven and that was exactly what I did last year in Scotland.
Autoroute has all of the European countries covered.

A far superior solution (and quite a bit more expensive is to buy the Tom Tom Navigator software with appropriate country map. There just coming
out in the USA (I field tested it) and the functionality is far superior to MS
offerings. See a UK based review at:
