I put a lot of files onto my 1910 and the ones that are .cab files I would like to be on my SD card. However, I copy them (using my desktop) to the SD card but when I click on them to install them it seems that they automatically go to my units main memory (of which I have little) how can we make it install only on the SD card?

I noticed that ubook was a .cab file that was installed into main memory. If I copy the folder it installed itself into and all move it to my SD card will that clear up storage memory. Is there any reason I shouldn't do this. Are there some small files that need to be moved to or can I do this with all of the programs where the .cab file put them into the main memory?

The solution is CabInstl. (http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/index.php?soft=524) This program will let you decide where to install programs out of .cab files, and also what do with the file after you install it, etc.

As for simply moving a program, I wouldn't suggest it. Too many registry entries and system files that you won't be able to catch. So you should probably uninstall and then reinstall the program directly to the storage card. Have fun!

You won't get that to work, as the program has installed small dll files and other info in your Windows catalog. These files point to the folder under Programs on your main RAM. When they can't find it there, you'll get an error message, or your PPC will freeze.

It's a real pain that it isn't easier to install programs onto memorycards. You can do it by using cabinstall, which you can find here: http://www.geocities.com/s_k_s_k_s_kru/util.html#ci
With this program you can install to any directory, also on your memorycards.
