<a href="http://www.rsoutlook.com/us/software.htm">http://www.rsoutlook.com/us/software.htm</a><br /><br />There are two add-ins, priced at $7.50 each, that will either send your Outlook reminders to you via SMS or email. The SMS application actually just captures the reminder event in Outlook and hands it off to another third party application that will send the message.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/hansberry/2003/20030529-outlooksms.jpg" /><br /><br />I am not sure how it works in Europe, but with my T-Mobile account, I can send an SMS message via email by setting up an email account at My T-Mobile. I already do this to get SMS/MMS messages autoforwarded by rules when I am out. However, my solution doesn't capture reminders.<br /><br />Desktop requirements are Outlook 2000, 2002 (XP) and 2003 Beta 2. This site is run by Ricardo Silva, an MVP for Microsoft Outlook, and contains lots of advice and add-ins for Outlook.

Would your reminders already be synced into your PocketPC and therefore show up there already? I guess it might be useful if you had a mobile phone without a calendar feature.

I've used for years something called Wireless Secretary Pro for Outlook from JTech Software. It used to be shareware, but I believe that he stopped development and posted a free registration code.

Anyway, it works with Oultook 98 as well, and I use it to send reminders to my pager - but I think it can also send SMS messages or SMTP messages instead.

It sends me my agenda for the day every morning as well. Great for those times when I have left my PPC on my desk or something - I never miss a meeting with this.

Calendar reminders, yes. Task reminders are at 8:00am. Well, unless you are usnig a third party app like Pocket Informant or Agenda Fusion. Of course, email reminders are not at all, so there is some definite benefit to this.

You send him an e-mail to order the software? That's odd. And no demo?

I too use the SMS notification and it is great for getting notification that I have new email. The SMS message is simply the Subject Line of the email.

I can then decide if I want to use my T-Mobile to dial in to my email account and download the full message or wait until I get home. Truly a mobile solution.

But I also don't see the benefit of this for Tasks.... I use AF and I can set a task reminder for whenever I want.

Also, in Outlook - one could drag a task or email onto their calendar and make it remind them that way if they wanted to.

So what is your point? Someone comes up with a $7.50 piece of software that sends reminders to their cell phone via SMS (YES! Cell phone, no PDA required) and you say you can do without it because you spent $30 for AF and manually create appointments for all email reminders?

Why does everyone have to be so critical? If this software works for you, great! If not, why tear it down like that? Sigh.....

This really sounds like a kind of nice feature... for people with cell phones... If you have a pocket pc it will just remind you itself... hehe But it is still kinda cool. I like seeing new ideas and ways to use software.

I've had this functionality for years, and for free! I just sync Outlook with my Yahoo! calendar/address book/notes/etc. using Yahoo!'s free Intellisync. Once you set up your mobile phone to receive Yahoo notifications, then all your reminders will automatically be sent to your phone.

Well, all except your task and email reminders.

I am not sure how it works in Europe, but with my T-Mobile account, I can send an SMS message via email by setting up an email account at My T-Mobile.

In New Zealand and Europe SMS is free to receive. Except when using an e-mail to SMS gateway, and then they're charged to the receiving mobile.

That's why I don't tell people my mobile e-mail address. Spammers have no way to know the e-mail address is going to a pop/imap server or to a mobile (paid per message received), so the danger of having to ask the carrier to change your mobile number is big (imagine paying to receive emails offering you viagra or the wonderful Iraq Wanted playing cards)!

Thats great...do you know where the free registration code can be found?

so with RSOutlook, do you need to have your outlook client running for the reminders to be forwarded, or are the rules applied at the server level?

for instance, I am in NY for 4 days, will I get the notifications if my workstation is shut down???

Thanks!!!!

Boy, I just found it a month or two ago, but his site seems to be down right now. Maybe you can e-mail him at [email protected]

I just received a reponse from the author. He wants me to wire transfer $7.50 into a bank account!?! I'm sorry, but that's too much work. He should accept credit cards like everyone else.

:(
That is a bit much IMHO. Wire fees are more than the software. Too bad Paypal isn't international. If you really want the software, email him and ask if he will accept a snail mail US$ check. If so, mail it and he can mail you the reg code when it clears.

UPDATE: The author has set up the ability to pay with PayPal. I have successfully sent a payment. Now I'm waiting on the instructions on where to get the software.

Unfortunately, a Google (http://www.google.ca/search?sourceid=navclient-menuext&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=Wireless+Secretary+Pro) produces several unsavory sites with it. Some want $70, some want $9. You should be forewarned that the servisco.net site listed has pr0n pop-ups. :really mad: :bad-words: 8O

For some reason I cannot get into the jtechsoftware.com home page - access forbidden. Last month it was fine.

Anyway, like I said, send him an e-mail - perhaps he will send you the free registration code that I found last month.
