Got some detailed info from an official presentation. Unfortunately, no info on dimensions or on memory. Included software and phone-side integration is looking good. No dates or prices on the presentation I got. However, as this presentation came from a Sprint source, you can bet we're within 4-6 weeks of it being available (though maybe longer since it may have a longer training cycle)

It's got 32MB of Ram, 32MB of Rom. Complete specs and a full review are in the latest issue of Pocket PC Magazine. They also have a great review of the Samsung I700.

We have the dimiensions on the product page at http://www.dreampages.com/sprintpcsrocks/Hitachi_G1000.shtml

The G1000 is 5.8 x 3.3 x 0.9 in / 8.4 oz.

I don't know what the I700 dimensions are because Sprint isn't releasing it until 4th quarter and wouldn't give out any info. You can probably get them from www.verizonwireless.com since they are selling it now.

Since they are waiting until the end of the month are you sure about the specs? Shouldn't they be using ppc 2003? I for one am hoping the specs improve as I would love to only cary one device and I definatly like keyboards better than the other input methods.

I've seen several units. They have have 2002 OS on them.

Do you happen to know why Sprint is waiting till Q4 to release the I700? I've read a lot of good things about it, but am stuck with Sprint for a while so I can't jump ship to Verizon to get the I700. The Hitachi does look very nice though.

is the hitachi g1000 sim locked?

Sprint doesn't use SIMS but the units are manufactured to only work on Sprint's network.

They pushed the I700 back because they want to release them with PPC 2003 on them. They're having alot of problems with the 2002 OS.

That has to be one of the most ugliest devices I have ever seen. Even if it had every single item I "dream" of I still would not buy this PPC. It's horrid. Form factor; the same as golf clubs, must go hand in hand.
