Hi! I am a recent subscriber to Pocket PC Thoughts. I heard about this website in the May/June 2003 issue of Mobility Magazine.

I am asking for help in resolving some synchronization problems with my IPAQ 3970 Pocket PC. The Pocket PC is running Microsoft Pocket PC version 3.0.11171 (Build 11178). My Pocket PC is connected (though the Compaq Cradle, with USB connection) to a Desktop Computer that is running Windows ME (I don't know which revision).

I am not connected to a network, however, I have both the desktop PC and the Pocket PC connected to a wireless LAN, which runs on 802.11.

I have ActiveSync set up so that it comes on when the computer is turned on, and runs continuously. The Pocket PC turns on, and is in the cradle, while the computer boots up.

The ActiveSync problems that I am encountering are as follows:

1) After the computer boots up, Active Sync will only sync Inbox and Files. However, after I start up Outlook, then ActiveSync will sync all of the categories.

2) After I use the Compaq External Keyboard (SPS P/N 250060-001), then the Desktop computer will no longer recognize the PocketPC, and I cannot synchronize. Then I have to fiddle around with both the desktop PC and Pocket PC, to get the interface working again. I am not sure what I did to correct the problem.

I suspect that part of these problems are due to sins that I committed in past lives, however, this time around, I have been pretty good. Anyone who can offer assistance will certainly be substantially improving their Karma bank account. :D Your help is very much appreciated!

Sincerely,

Bob Sherman
