I have a Jornada 568 that comes with a program called HP Image Viewer. This thing is FAST. When I'm viewing images and I press the D-Pad to advance to the next image I'm telling you it switches the split second that I press the pad. I'm going to be switch to another PDA soon, if I could somehow get this program over to the other PDA I would be so happy but whenever I try to copy it I get an error "Cannot copy imgview: Executable and resource files in ROM cannot be copied". So my questions are:
1. Is there another way to copy files from ROM?
2. What's the fastest image viewer out there?
I'm one of those simplistic kinda guys. I hate stuff that has every possible feature under the sun. All I want is something that opens and displays the images in full screen.

Yes, the hp Image Viewer is a really great program that comes free with the 56x series of Jornada. Why are you going to a different PDA if you don't mind my asking?

I qualified for the free Viewsonic V37 offer. :)

I like Palbum Suite. It's quite fast on my Toshiba e750 and renders images very well.

I trialled quite a few - and PQV ( http://www.bitbanksoftware.com/PQView.html ) is lightning fast (faster than anything else I tried - including Palbum.

I tried it too. If you think PQV is fast you must try HP Image Viewer. I'm telling you, no word of a lie, the image changes the very instant you press the D-Pad. I've never seen something react so quickly. It doesn't have anywhere near the number of features that PQV has, but it has slideshow and fullscreen which is all I care about.

I really like PDAMill Viewer. It is very fast (I find), has no features that I don't need anyway (except for slideshow which is great, works with your D-pad) and best of all, it's free!

yeah, i agree,
if you just need bare bone picture/slide show app, the new PDA mill is fast. It also has auto image optimizer too.

Thanks Karina! I like PDAMill, it's pretty fast and light. It's great to hear from a local BC neighbour! :)

Hey neighbour!
What kind of device will you be getting? My first pocket pc was a Cassiopeia E-125, but a few months ago I got an Ipaq h1910, and I'm very happy with it.
Just curious!!
Happy ppc'ing!

I've qualified for the free Viewsonic V37, can't wait to get my hands on it and play around with it. My upgrade path is Sony Clie PEG-S300 -> Palm m505 -> HP Jornada 568 - Viewsonic V37
I have a friend here at work with a 1910, what a nice little unit!

Here's another vote for PDAMill Viewer. Very simple interface without all the features I don't need. And yes, it's fast.

I tried Resco's viewer, but it was slooow. I also tried others, but the fastest I've tried is iRa, from Rasoft. It's a coming commercial pic viewer, but is still in free beta. So if you hurry, it's free!
Find it here: http://www.rasoft.net/eng/mainframe.htm
Thomas.
New Resco PV 4 is great, faster, give it a try.
