I am looking for a great program that will allow me to compress my movies. I generally use the mpegs and avi formats. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First there have been several threads with similar topics recently so you SHOULD first search the existing message base.
Secondly, Virtual Dub is a FREEWARE PC program that MAY meet your needs. For more info see DVD Help (http://www.dvdhelp.com).
