Since it appears that nobody has posted here yet, allow me to introduce myself in true "PDAs anonymous" fasion.

I'm Steve and I'm addicted to PocketPC's. lol ;-)

How about a role call of other i700 owners?

Welcome Shackrat - you're the famous person who first received the i700! How does it feel to be famous? ;-)

I'm want more feedback. Typical day in the life of an i700 user. Missed calls, SMS sent, received. Photos taken and shared with other camera phone models.

Inquiring minds are inquisitive!

You don't count. You have things before they're built. I wish I had the same opportunity... :)

Will it be upgradeable to future versions of PPC OS Phone edition?

That's up to the OEM or carrier to decide - but all the devices have flash ROM, so it's *technically* possible.

I got mine on the 12th, ordered it on the 9th. It rocks. Take some getting used to (former Palm user) and I like it. As for pics. Messed around with it some, but haven't had a real urgent need for that gotcha moment. The phone actually gets reception at my house where my T720 Motorola didn't.

More later. 8O

I have been reduced to dealing with the consumer account folks.
My corporate Telecom Admin department chastised me for "going around them" to get an unapproved phone!

And of course, no one in the Consumer Division has any idea of what I am talking about!

Aye, carumba!

Does the Samsung i700 have built in 802.11b wireless compatibility? If so GREAT!!! If not, can 802.11b wireless be an add on?

No, it doesn't have it. But, yes, you can add it via an SDIO 802.11b WiFi card (they should be out in a few months...I hope). :-)

Back-lit reflective - it's very nice!

In my little world, there are only two types of screens: back-lit (iPAQ 1910) and side-lit (iPAQ 3650). Everything else is just jargon.

Not the best screen outdoors though.

MultiMatt

True, the screen is not great outdoors, but that's not a big deal to me. I can see, just not as good. I would honestly say that the percentage of time I use my i700 outside in bright sunlight is about 5%. Would I prefer a better screen? Sure! But I can live with the current screen (which is AWESOME in most lighting situations), given all of the other conveniences of this baby!

I would never go back to a device that was not coverged, now that I've tasted true connectivity! I had WiFi on my iPAQ's (most recently the 5555), and it was only as convenient as the availability of a HotSpot. Big yip. maybe in a couple of years, when WiFi is more widespread...

In the meanwhile, I'm connected whenever, wherever, and loving it! :rock on dude!:

Any news on if/when the new OS version is going to be released for this thing?

Rumor has it - December timeframe. On another thread somewhere, a person had received an email from a Verizon tech, and they said it's in the testing phase at the moment...
