The bottom line is that this sounds like a great unit. I got mine (in the UK) in early Jan, and I love it to bits.

A mixed blessing is that, if its left in a hot place, then the writing rubs off after a while, this making it less noticable. It would benefit from being able to turn the LEDs off (but a bit of electrical tape sorted that). Finally, a sleep mode would be wonderful, since I leave mine on all the time and it keeps charging down when I'm not in the car.

That said - absolutely wonderful unit. Quick, reliable.

Anybody got any practical experience, though, of multiple bt in the car? With this device you could easily end up with (say) the GPS unit talking to an iPaq which (in turn) talked to a bt phone (for email) with, of course, the phone also talking to a bt car kit!!! :roll:

I use Running Voice and TomTom Navigator on my iPaq when it's cradled in the car sometimes, talking to the Socket BT GPS and a Siemens S55

The BT handles it all just fine, although I think the iPaq can start to struggle if it hasn't been reset recently running two fairly hefty programs at once.

Sounds good. I'm due to get a 3G phone from Motorola some point soon and that has bt - so it wasn't an idle query!

it all works great together! I've been able to use Socket's BT CF on my e740 for talking simulatenously to the Socket BT GPS and T68i to surf online. Socket's MyNavigator software also works flawlessly, saved me at least twice when I got detoured.

Can this device also work in "standalone" mode (does it have a
small LCD display?) for those occasions when you might not
need the full power of your PocketPC?

nope, it just serves as an "antenna" and relays the information to a 3rd party device: laptop, pda, etc.

Now we just need Comfoolery (http://www.brianpoe.com/comfoolery/) ported to the Pocket PC, so more than one application can access the GPS data at a time.
