Good Evening,
Ok, so here is my million dollar idea... Get one of the Archos 20Gb Jukebox MP3 players to connect to the PPC. The million dollar question, is how do you connect them? The Jukebox connects to the pc via USB 2.0 (backwards compatible with USB 1.1). Is there some sort of USB to CF adapter? And if there is, would the PPC recognize the Jukebox as a removeable hard drive? Just think, 20GB worth of movies to watch on that long flight!!!
Cheers,
Dominik

There is a USB-to-CF card (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8625), but I don't know if the Archos would be recognized as a generic Mass Storage device. If it is, then there should be drivers out there to get it to work. But no guarantees. ;)

I have one of these and I had been wondering the same thing. But unfortunately mine has not been reliable enough for me to keep looking for a way to do it. The jukebox player locks up a lot, and while it runs very well until that point, it is a pain in the @$$ when it does. I copied some mp3's from my laptop to the jukebox and it froze up, frying my laptop. :microwave:
Some other people in this thread http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=85784&highlight=#85784 have done similar things with external laptop size drives. I don't think Archos currently has software to connect to a ppc. Hope this helps. :fro:

Looks like that Ratoc host card adapter is exactly what I was looking for. Janak, you are the king.
As for the smart ass responses with no useful information, pretty unnecessary. I apologize for the dual post in the general forum, that was unintentional. However, what's wrong with posting a topic in more than one forum, especially if it is a question that pertains to both forums? Isn't it possible that someone may check one of the forums but not the other? Seems to me like you have a better chance of getting an answer this way. Plus I didn't post the topic in every forum, just the 2 that I thought were appropriate :-) Didn't mean to annoy anyone...

The best way to do this: Post your question in the forum you feel will most likely get you the answer you need. If you feel you may need to post in another forum, Post something like this: "I asked a question about "xxxxxxxx", in the "xxxxxx" forum" could you look at this and see if you know the answer?" And then leave a link to the original post. This way, we won't have multiple conversations going on across several forums about the same thing...

Actually, other people answered your question first in some of your other threads -- Fred Murphy being the first. That's another problem with cross-posting.

I know you didn't mean to annoy anybody, which is why I didn't ream you for the cross-posting. Besides what Steve C. said, though, another reason to avoid cross-posting is that it uses Jason's disk space.
Finally, I don't know why you'd think the Toshiba forum was appropriate. I realize that you probably have a Toshiba Pocket PC, but the question seems like it would be useful to anybody with a Pocket PC and an Archos Jukebox. I would have posted it in a general forum and mentioned what model of Pocket PC I had.
Consider this constructive criticism for the future. :-)
